CREATING A SPECIAL NICHE

For a VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

BUSINESS

What is a Niche? It is best described as offering a service to

select clientele in an area that you specialize in.

Focusing on your strengths, skills and experience will help you choose a niche.

Most Virtual Assistants don’t initially focus on a specific niche when they first start their Business.

It is common to see a VA become a generalist until she can determine where her expertise will lead her.

As a generalist we focus more on the services that are most requested.

However,

sometimes we end up at a destination we never planned for.

Example of change:

You may start your business offering administrative services and general office duties only to find...

Your expertise lies elsewhere....You may prefer writing business plans or marketing.

What are some niches?

Realtor’s Assistant

VA for Speakers

Assistant to a Coach

Social Media Specialist

Event planner

Bookkeeping

And the list goes on........

Website Design

Desktop Publishing

Copywriting

Concierge Services

Administrative Services

How to pick a niche.Evaluate your skills.

What industry are you familiar with?

What is your educational background?

What particular role do you enjoy in your

business?

Look closer Do you prefer marketing, accounting, assisting

others or being a team leader?

Do you have contacts in your chosen industry?

What level is your experience?

Do you need upgrading or any training?

What is your passion?

What five things are you the absolute “best” at?

What type of tasks do you love doing?

And...

Look at what you don’t enjoy or what is currently not working or making you any money.

Maybe it’s time to eliminate those negative aspects of your business.

Be uniqueLook at what other Virtual Assistants are

doing in their business.

Who are their clients?

What type of work do they do?

Can you do it a bit differently?

Put your own unique spin on

something

others are already doing.

Who is your ideal client? What type of client would you like to work

with?

Female, male, coaches, realtors, lawyers,

young old, new business owners, established

organizations?

Now think of what services they might need!

Can you help them?

In conclusion...By understanding what a niche is,

knowing your skills, experience, passion and your preferred client will help you focus on whether you wish to focus your Virtual Assistant Business on a Niche Market.

You may also choose to become a generalist – doing all kinds of tasks for a variety of clients.

That’s okay...

IT’S YOUR BUSINESS!
