User downloads the application to their smartphone.

User then registers to the service by agreeing to the

terms of service (ToS).

Users rarely take time to read the ‘terms and

conditions’ of what they are agreeing too and

usually just ‘check’ or ‘agree’ to the ‘Terms

of Service’ before proceeding to use the

online service.

Failing to comply to this means that

WhatsApp has the authority to remove or

block access to the copyrighted material

and may even terminate the user from

using the service (counts, 2013).

‘..The contents of messages that have

been delivered by the WhatsApp Service

are not copied, kept or archived by

WhatsApp in the normal course of

business…’ (WhatsApp, 2012)

WhatsApp will not use the personal

information of a WhatsApp user for

commercial purposes without their

consent.

WhatsApp DOES NOT allow

people below the age of 16

years to join, unless given

legal consent from a parent

or a guardian (WhatsApp, 2012).

WhatsApp holds the right to change their

Terms of Service at any time without notice

and it is your responsibility to review these

changes (WhatsApp, 2012).
