MYTHSWind Power

(and why they’re pretty stupid)

is any invented MYTHa

STORY,IDEA

orCONCEPT.

There’s virtually a MYTH of

EVERYTHING.There’s virtually a MYTH

of

MYTHS are

INVENTIONS.

FACTS.Oftentimes they don’t

agree with real

MYTHSHere be

about

WINDPOWER

MYTH: Wind Powerdoe

snothelpfight

GLOBAL WARMING.

Uhh…

Here’s the

FACT:

Wind Power

is a

CLEAN,

RENEWABLE

ENERGY SOURCE.

This is NOT wind power.

AND

It does not produce any greenhouse

gases or waste products,

which speed up global

warming.

It’s actually

one of the few

ENERGY SOURCES

that actually fight

GLOBAL WARMING.

MYTH:

More energyisspent

BUILDING wind turbines

than it ever PRODUCES after.

If that’s true, what’s the point ofbuilding itin the first place?

FACT is:

FACT is:On average,

it takes 3-5 months fora wind turbineto pay back the energy

spentin its manufacture.

Plus, wind turbines are designed to operate for up to

20 years.

So,

So,

MYTH:For it to work, wind power

needs a backup power source.

FACT:For it to work, wind power

needs a backup power source!

FACT:For it to work, wind power

needs a backup power source!

FACT:For it to work, wind power

needs a backup power source!

…just like every other energy source.

Like how Batman needs Robin

No energy sourcecan be relied on 100%.

No energy sourcecan be relied on 100%.

Except Kryptonite, that

is.

No energy sourcecan be relied on 100%.

Except Kryptonite, that

is.(Unfortunately, it doesn’t

exist.)

MYTH:Wind power is

expensive.

MYTH:Wind power is

expensive.

FACT:Wind power is relatively cheapcompared to other sources of

energy.

For the past few years, the cost of wind powerkeeps falling as the global wind capacitykeeps increasing.

Currently, WIND POWERcosts around 5-7$ per KWh,

which is competitivewith COAL

(4-8$ per KWh)

Currently, WIND POWERcosts around 5-7$ per KWh,

(4-8$ per KWh)

Currently, WIND POWERcosts around 5-7$ per KWh,

and cheaper than NUCLEAR(6-11$ per KWh).

Since wind power keepsgetting cheaper whilstgas prices keep increasing,

PR

ICE

TIME

(about now)

(couple years ago)

(pretty darn expensive)

(real cheap)

GAS

WIND

In the near future, wind powercould surpass gas as the

cheapest energy resource.

MYTH:

All wind farmsshould be at sea.

While it is truethat offshorewind farms aremore efficient,

they’re also moreexpensive to install,

and take longerto build.

Cheap

Low Efficiency

Expensive

High Efficiency

OffshoreWindFarms

Haven’tbeen

inventedyet.Keep

dreaming.

Onshore Wind Farms

Don’t botherbuilding thesewind farms. You probablygot duped.

THAT’S AFACT.

MYTH:

MYTH:

Wind Farms are

MYTH:

Wind Farms areUGLY.

FACT:

FACT:

It’s an opinion.

FACT:

It’s an opinion.(Did that just make sense?)

FACT:Everyone is entitled to

it.

FACT:Some people find it ugly, some people

don’t.

FACT:Some people find it ugly, some people

don’t.(There’s no use arguing over it.)

MYTH:Wind farms are noisy.

FACT:The rapid growth of technology in the past decade has rendered noise from many modern wind turbines virtually “undetectable”.

FACT:Regardless of this, several laws profess extremely strict guidelines that limit wind turbine noise emissions.
