LostWrite a narrative about a boy your age who gets lost.

First, decide where he gets lost – in a train station? in an airport? in a city? in the bush? Then, decide how he got lost, and finally tell how he found his way home again.

Some questions you might think about are: What was he doing that made him get lost? Did someone or something distract him? Did he have friends with him? What is the place like that he can’t find his way? Who will help him find his way back?

Before you write:• Think about the story you want to write.• Think about your characters, setting, problem, events and ending.• Organise your ideas in the planning chart.

When you write:• Use the characters, setting and problem to write the beginning of the story.• Use the events to write what happens in the middle of the story.• Write an ending to your story that explains how the problem is solved.

While you write, remember to:• Capitalise your title, any proper nouns and the beginning of each sentence.• Use ending punctuation, commas and quotation marks in dialogue.• Use correct spelling.• Use correct subject-verb agreement.• Use a variety of sentence types.• Use descriptive and figurative language.
