3D Printer Process

• The machine spreads a layer of powder from the feed box to cover the surface of the build piston. The printer than sprays binder solution onto the loose powder, forming the first layer.

• The powder is glued together where the binder is sprayed. The remaining powder remains loose and supports the model layers that will be printed above.

• When the cross-section is completed, the build piston is lowered, a new layer of powder is spread over its surface, and the process is repeated.spread over its surface, and the process is repeated.

• The part builds layer-by-layer in the build piston until the part is completed, completely surrounded and covered by loose powder.

• Once the build is completed approximately 1 hour of drying time is needed before the excess powder can be swept away and the parts are lifted from the bed for further processing.

• Parts can be finished in a variety of ways.

• Advantages of 3D Printing– High Speed

– Low operational cost

– Versatile

– Simple to Operate

– Very Little Material Waste

– Color

• Disadvantages of 3D Printing– Limited Functional Parts

– Limited Strength– Limited Strength

– Limited Materials (Starch, Plaster-Based Materials)

– Poor Surface Finish

– Multiple secondary processes

• ZP131– ZP131 is a multi-purpose material system that delivers the toughest parts, the

best resolution and great color accuracy. It is perfect for fit and functional

testing.

• ZP140– High-performance composite material that introduces the world’s easiest,

safest and greenest post-processing option for finishing monochrome 3D

Material Selection

safest and greenest post-processing option for finishing monochrome 3D

printed models – a quick mist with tap water.

• Zcast 501– The ZCast 501 Direct Metal Casting process enables you to produce cast metal

parts from a CAD file faster and less expensively than traditional prototype

casting methods.

• ZP14– ZP14 Investment Casting Material can be used to quickly fabricate parts that

can be dipped in wax to produce investment casting patterns.
