An Easter Message from Our Pastor Dear Parishioners, Easter is the miracle that transcends time and transforms humanity. If today, on Easter Sunday of 2018, the unrest around the world, the continual moral decline in society, the political wrangling in our country, still leave you with hopelessness, if today, having celebrated the Resurrection of Our Lord, the struggles of your family, the difficulties at work, the trials and tribulations in your life, still oppress your heart, then you do not yet know the miracle of Easter. The miracle is not that Easter somehow changes these realities, but that it lifts your souls above them. My brothers and sisters, surrender yourselves now to the miracle of the Lord Jesus rising from the dead and you will know the peace and joy the world cannot give. Happy Easter! Pray for Religious Vocations

On the 3rd of each month, our parish prays for Vocations to the Priesthood & Religious Life. Father Sy asks all to unite in prayer for this need. On Tuesday, April 3, after 8:00 am and 6:30 pm Mass, we place our Lord in the Monstrance on the main altar & pray the Rosary for Religious Vocations during Adoration. Join us for a silent Eucharistic Holy Hour Cenacle for all clergy after evening Rosary. If you will not be at the Church, then please pray for these intentions on the 3rd of each month. Thank God for sending laborers into His vineyard. We are blessed with multiple parishioners discerning religious vocations. Scott Allen in St. Mary Church in Fullerton, Pastoral Intern Michael Fitzpatrick in North American College Seminary in Rome Nataly Gomez in Servant Sisters of Our Lord & the Virgin of Matara If you would like to write them, contact [email protected]

Welcome These Children—The Rite of Election Our five RCIA children celebrated the Rite of Election with Father Sy, parents, godparents and classmates on March 14, 2018 encouraging them to follow our Lord with greater generosity. At this solemn occasion, these children publicly expressed their desire to enter the Catholic Church and signed their names in the Book of Elect which is a pledge of their fidelity. Their parents and godparents confirmed their readiness for the Sacraments of Initiation. Congratulate them for receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.

O Death, where is your sting? O Hell, where is your victory? Christ is risen, and you are overthrown. Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen. Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice. Christ is risen, and life reigns. Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the grave. For Christ, being risen from the dead, is become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. To Him be glory and dominion unto ages of ages.

~ St. John Chrysostom

Prayer of Consecration A Solemn Act of Consecration of Our Parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of all, to fulfill the desires of the

Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we

consecrate ourselves and our families in this parish of St. Martin de Porres to

your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy

Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country

and all the world. Please accept our consecration,

dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in

the world. O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of

the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our

King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in

our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire

to pray the Rosary more faithfully. We come with confidence to You,

O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine

Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.

Make our hearts, our homes, and our parish Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together

with Your rule, triumph in every heart and home.

Amen.

Venerable Pope Pius XII
