We work with people to ensure Africa's wildlife and wild lands endure forever.

AWF was founded in 1961, at the height of the African Independence movement.

![Page 6: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Over five decades, AWF has implemented innovative projects linking wildlife to people.
![Page 7: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Africa is now modernizing rapidly through increased investment,as well as economic and human population growth.
![Page 8: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Which prompts the question: Will there be space for wildlife in Africa’s future?
![Page 9: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
The continent of Africa is huge. Three times the size of the United States.
![Page 10: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Using science, AWF has identified 30 large landscapes whereAfrica's wildlife can be conserved well into the future.
![Page 11: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
These are large, open spaces where viable wildlifepopulations can breed and live naturally.
![Page 12: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
AWF invests in four principle ways.
![Page 13: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
First, we consider the available LAND & HABITAT.
![Page 14: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
And invest in strengthening parks and reserves.
![Page 15: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
And secure wildlife corridors.
![Page 16: An introduction to the african wildlife foundation 062014](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062405/557c7d62d8b42a9f578b47b6/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
We ensure our strategies are grounded by CONSERVATION SCIENCE.
