I see the endless food vendors on my street; all Ive tasted: Pho, banhcuon (rolled cake), banh chung (rice cake), nem ran (fried spring roll),and so much more. I see the toothless smile on the old clocksmith who is always there for anyone in need, come rain or shine. I see myrusty Honda scooter. I see stray cats and dogs that follow me home.I see the whirling blur of passing trafc on Hanoi streets. I see plac-es of Vietnam that I have been to; I see the morning forest mist onmountain tops and the rising tides on the beach at sundown. I see allthat make me who I am. And I see home.

My home is many things: a cityscape, someones grandmother, mygrandmother, spotlight heat, light in my eyes, darkness, an emptytheater, moving vehicles, celebrity culture, and innitely unexploredplaces.

Los Angeles is itself a huge home to these things, as well as a hometo many different kinds of people, scenes, wealth, and heritage. Thisagglomeration posits the city as certain glamorized home to liter-ally everything, which often makes living there confusing or dis-comforting.

This c ollection of images, united by the geographic specicity ofLos Angeles, pieces together some of these scopes to highlight mypersonal representation of and critical opinion on the concept ofbirthplace. Motifs of family, irony, and emptiness underscore howthis sequence seeks to communicate both a private life within and aremoved, monochromatic scrutiny of LA as home.

Hong Kong is not just a city. It is a group o islands and the Kow-loon peninsula. A lot o people told me t heyve been to Hong Kong, but most o them say to me that the only thing to do there is goshopping or eating. I dont think they know that you can ride arusty bicycle along the ai Mei uk water ront until your legs burn. You can sit and watch boats come t hrough the Peng Chau harbour.Teres a lot to do. Tere are also a lot o good places to do nothing.

Hong Kong is home. I was not born there, but I spent my entireli e there. I spent every Sunday afernoon at the wetmarket buyinggroceries with my Mom. I miss those days. Tey are gone, but Illalways have these pictures.

Tese photos were taken in various parts o Hong Kong, namelyKwun ong, Sai Kung beach, Peng Chau, Wan Chai, Ma On Shanand Sheung Wan. Tese photos were taken rom October 2011 un-til December 2013.
