Analysis There is a lot of different sound types used in this scene. This varies out from diegetic to non diegetic sounds. An example of diegetic sound in this scene is the when there is sound of gun shots being fired at Deadpool, the reason why I know that it is a diegetic sound is because as an actor Deadpool can hear it himself. Furthermore, another example of diegesis is when one of the enemy throw an explosive into the territory of Deadpool which then exploded right inside a car to make the sound of something being torn apart. Moreover, when one of the enemy is trying to escape with a motorbike us the audience and the actors can possibly hear the engine running by creating huge amounts of noise. However, throughout this scene we do hear non diegetic sounds which only us the audience can hear rather than everyone like even the film crew. This is possibly because it has been added after when the editing procedure was taking place. These examples take place through the involvement of various shots. I see/hear these especially at the start of the scene and at the end of the scene. In addition, you have another diegetic sound in this scene because you listen closely you can hear the people on the bridge screaming and running away which makes a lot of noise and is easy to notice therefore it is something that the audience should spot out. In the middle section of this scene you have parallel sound as there is dramatic music in the background while a fight scene is going on. The soundtrack helps ease the atmosphere as the ‘Mission Impossible’ esque music transforms the whole scene into an interesting and effective camera movements which makes it look real and unique. However, there is a contrapuntal sound right at the end of this scene as you can hear a church bell ringing which doesn’t really link in with the fighting although you see Deadpool blowing away the smoke inside the guns away to tell us that the fight is over and victory is upon him. The church bell kind of represents sombre music as it is slow paced and doesn’t really link in with the action going on. On the other hand, if we are talking about the Mise en scene in this scene then it really blends in with the whole idea because the location of the fight is on top of a bridge which is suitable as many films go with that same idea. The costume’s are similar apart from Deadpool who is wearing a red bullet proof vest with a black samurai sword and you have the enemy team which half of them are in suits and the other half (on motorbikes) in black leather vests. You can tell from the action going on that the director has made sure that he has used plenty of space to try and show everything within the scene. We can see this from the room that has been covered, as nearly in every shot you have a different background or place shown. The surroundings are mostly evacuated cars and opposition men who are trying to assassinate Deadpool, but he manages to kill all of them to once again do his public service/duty of assassinating men who are trying to make the city, in this instance, New York City a living hell.
