Key Terms“Lead us”

– Leading someone to a place where he is tempted is not the same as tempting him! (Matthew 4:1)

“Temptation” – The word translated temptation can refer to “a test

or trial” OR to an “enticement to sin” (James 1:2,13)“Evil” (or “the evil one”)

– “Evil” can refer to moral evil (sin) as well as to tragedies, calamities, trials and persecutions.

– The same word is used to refer specifically to Satan (Matt. 13:19, 38, Mark 4:15; Luke 8:12)

– Paul faced “evil” or the “evil one” in both of these senses (2 Thess. 3:1-3; 2 Timothy 4:17-18)
