ChildrenChildren are welcome to attend the workshops and General Sessions although the messages are geared for a maturity level of approximately 10 and above. Due to limited space in the workshop rooms, please leave strollers outside and have small children sit on parents’ laps.note: Except for responsible young adults, all youth and children not attending the Chorale should remain with their parents at all times rather than attend workshops on their own. We desire to encourage family-togetherness as much as possible during this conference.

Nursing Mothers and ToddlersSeparate rooms are provided for nursing mothers and for toddlers who need a break. Please check your map for the exact locations.

FoodAlthough no outside food is permitted in the building, you are welcome to bring your own food and enjoy a picnic meal. Concession stands on each level are also provided for your convenience. Kevin Swanson Booths 45, 52Homeschooled himself in the 1960’s and 70’s, Kevin Swanson has over 35 years of experience in the homeschooling movement. As a father who desires to leave a Godly heritage, he and his wife, Brenda, are homeschooling their five children. He serves as the Director

of Generations with Vision, and for the last five years he has hosted a daily radio program, Generations Radio, reaching families across the US and in over 80 countries. Kevin also served as the Executive Director of Christian Home Educators of Colorado from 1998-2009.

Keynote Messages:The Heart of HomeschoolingFriday, 7:00 p.m., Auditorium A, CD #1003bEventually, every homeschooling parent realizes that the heart of the child is the heart of the Homeschool. In this transparent and powerful presentation, Kevin traces a developing relationship between himself and his own son. Kevin drills into the heart of what happens in a home when parents begin to walk with their children. Parenting and home education boils down to one issue – the heart of a parent connecting with the heart of a child.

Homeschooling: Capturing the Vision!Saturday, 8:30 a.m., Auditorium A, CD #1004What is it about home education that has profoundly reenergized education and produced such outstanding academic results? Incredibly, the average homeschool 8th grader without teacher-credentialed parents tests four grade levels above the national average on nationally standardized tests. And it is not because we have taken a public school system complete with desks and bolted them to the floor of our living rooms. In this visionary, ground-breaking presentation on the Homeschool Vision, Kevin presents the basic elements that make up an outstanding homeschooling experience for your child. This message will give the first-time homeschooler confidence and vision and will provide encouragement and a reality check for the experienced home educator.

Ken Ham Booths 61, 62, 63, 66, 67, 68

The president/CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis-U.S. and the highly acclaimed Creation Museum, Ken Ham is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America. Ham is the author of numerous books, and he also appears frequently on TV. Ken hosts the daily

Keynote Messages:Genesis: The Key to Reclaiming the CultureFriday, 9:00 a.m., Auditorium A, CD #1001Based on Psalm 11:3, this powerful message brings clear understanding to what takes place when the Biblical authority in the Church and culture is lost and how this ties into attacks and compromise on the book of Genesis.

Stand Firm: Defending the Christian Faith in Today’s WorldFriday, 4:15 p.m., Auditorium A, CD #1002Teaching people how to think and how to answer the skeptics of this age is vital in our world today. In this dynamic presentation, Ken Ham uses 1 Peter 3:15 as a springboard to share the importance of being skilled in Biblically dividing and defending the Word of Truth.

The Bible, Science…and Dinosaurs!Friday, 7:00 p.m., Auditorium A, CD #1003aAre Dinosaurs Biblical? What should we teach our children about these mysterious creatures? Drawing from Job 40:15, Ken Ham demonstrates how Dinosaurs are not a mystery and explains how to understand them from a Biblical perspective with an emphasis on understanding the Bible’s history and the Gospel based on that history.

Raising Your Family to Stand FirmSaturday, 4:15 p.m., Auditorium A, CD #1005Proverbs 22:6 is clear about the important responsibility parents have to train their children. In this inspiring message, you will learn God’s Methods from Scripture for training up Godly offspring and leaving a lasting legacy of eternal value.

Workshop A, Friday 10:45-11:45 a.m.Making a Man: What to do with Boys Ages 15-25Kevin Swanson • Auditorium A • CD #1011Forty years ago, 70% of men reached manhood by 30 years of age. Now, a bare 33% would meet the qualifications of maturity. Men who are 25-35 years of age currently earn less than women, and their earnings have dropped 20% adjusted for inflation since 1970. Can we expect anything better for the young men we are raising in our homes today? In this talk, Kevin addresses the most serious social problem facing our nation as well as the homeschooling movement. How do we take a 15 year old boy and make a man out of him? If you have a son, this talk is for you!

Homeschooling: Essential to the Natural FamilyBrian Ray • Auditorium B • CD #1012Twenty years of research and a pro-family worldview show that parent-led, home-based education is an essential function of the natural family, and that homeschooling clearly builds, strengthens, and advances the natural family. On the other hand, institutional schooling, both state-run (public) and private, inherently undermines the natural family and the benefits that it bestows on society. Research on the worldwide modern homeschool movement will be reviewed showing the academic, psychological, social, familial, civic, and long-term advantages that homeschooling gives to individuals, local communities, and to societies. The audience will learn much about homeschooling, especially as it pertains to the natural family.

What Do You Do All Day, Dear?Betsy Ray • Auditorium C • CD #1013This is for all the other moms who have been futilely asking for a maid every year for Christmas. How do you do more than is humanly possible (which most of us are trying to do) or justify not doing it (which is an easily-acquired skill!)? You will be challenged to determine priorities as you seek to organize your time.

Washington Homeschool Law Simply ExplainedScott & DiAnna Brannan • Room D • CD #1014Want to be informed and updated on homeschool law? Want to know what happened in the 2010 Legislative Session? This workshop covers the basics of the homeschool law and answers many of the questions that come up to new or seasoned homeschoolers. Scott & DiAnna will attempt to cover the most common questions and give you the answers you need. The best way to protect our freedoms is to know our rights under the law!

Getting What You Teach to Stick Cyndi Ringoen • Room E • CD #1015Does your child know something one day and not the next? Are you constantly looking for new and different approaches for teaching the same information? Is much of your teaching more accurately “re-teaching”? If you answered yes to these questions, this workshop is for you. There is a reason the information is not “sticking”. Children who do not retain the information they learn are usually as frustrated as the parent teaching them. Learn the neurodevelopmental cause and what you can do to turn it around. You do not have to cope with the problem, you can eliminate it!

Your College Degree: Faster, For Less, For SureRyan Yamane • Room F • CD #1016For many families, answering the college question is a difficult task. Oftentimes the cost, time required, inefficiencies, or negative college environment are too great an obstacle. Sadly, many families either choose against attending college or borrow multiple thousands of dollars to do so. In this session, attendees will discover a new, revolutionary way to earn a fully accredited bachelor’s degree from home for a fraction of the time and cost! Discover the college answer for homeschoolers.

Our Part in Rebuilding the “One Accord” Power of the ChurchTim Roth • Room G • CD #1017How do we respond to other Christian families who have convictions we think are either too strict or too lenient? Our actions will either directly increase the power of the Body of Christ, or it will weaken it. Learn how we, as Christian homeschool families, can enhance or hinder the “one accord” power of the Church by the way we respond to the standards of others.

Workshop B, Friday 1:15-2:15 p.m.The Origin of “Races” and the Biblical Answers to Racism Ken Ham • Auditorium A • CD #1021One human race, one basic skin color, interracial marriage, evolution and racism, and the so called “curse of Ham” – come hear Ken Han explain all of these perplexing questions from a Biblical and scientific perspective.

The world steps aside for an individual who is passionately living out a significant life purpose and mission. Most homeschoolers today never lack available opportunities, but instead they struggle to confidently know which items on their “To Do” lists are God-ordained. This functional session will assist students in identifying their individual, God-given, world-changing life purpose and then help plug it into world-changing action!

Preparing Daughters for Powerful MinistryMary Craig • Room E • CD #1025Learn how the home is the God-given training ground to prepare your daughters for service and to be a powerful helpmeet. These years are not a time for idleness or a “waiting for marriage” mentality, but rather an exciting time of skill development, usefulness, and preparation to be a keeper at home. There will be Q & A towards the end of this session.

Hold Fast! Christ-Centered RelationshipsDouglas Bond • Room F • CD #1026This session will explore how our union with Christ affects our unity with others. Particular emphasis will be placed on how young men are to live out their faith in Christ-honoring relationships with parents – especially mothers; siblings – especially sisters; and friends who are guys and friends who are girls. Though of particular importance to fathers and sons, this session will be appropriate for mothers and daughters who may need some useful insider information on how the males in their household tick.

Auditory Processing Challenges? Yes, There is Hope!Cyndi Ringoen • Room G • CD #1027There is nothing more heartbreaking than having a bright, wonderful child who is struggling academically, emotionally, behaviorally, or socially. All too often friends and family are quick to point out deficiencies. However, the answers for addressing the problems often fall short. During this workshop we will look at time-proven techniques for helping families overcome the challenging obstacles blocking their children.

A Word Fitly Spoken: Shaping Communicators of Tomorrow to Speak Effectively for Christ WA NCFA Clubs: SPEECH • Chorale Room • CD #1028Public presentation is much more than standing in front of a crowd and spewing information. When a Free Lunch Isn’t Free: Public School Homeschool ProgramsBrian Ray • Auditorium C • CD #1033“Hi, we are the local government school district and we are here to help you, to give you a free education for your children at home.” Does this positively grab you and comfort you that now all your money and self-doubt worries are over? Or does it send shivers up your spine with visions of Big Brother? It is of paramount importance for everyone to consider who should be in authority over what is taught to the minds and hearts of children. Both the concept of a democratic republic such as the United States and a Judeo-Christian worldview demand that parents and private, thoughtfully-chosen associations be the only educators. Dr. Ray will challenge you to think through this issue and consider questions such as, Should one person take from another, with the government’s help, to educate his or her own children? Shouldn’t we as Christians care about those less fortunate and back up the government’s benevolent hands? This has emerged as one of the most important issues with which homeschoolers must grapple during the early 2000s.

Support Group Session #1: The Role of the Support Group in Family Discipleship Dick Karman • Room D • CD #1034The secret ingredient that lies at the heart of homeschool success also lies in the foundation of the modern day support group: Home education isn’t a method of academic achievement – it is a way of life. If you wonder what role a support group might play in your homeschooling success, bring your notebook and your shock absorbers. Success isn’t measured by the stock market or popularity ratings. For the Christian homeschooling parent, it is measured by progress toward God’s design for your family.

Beginning Homeschooling: Where to Begin – and How?Susan Bradrick • Room E • CD #1035Home-based discipleship is God’s best for preparing your children to responsibly and faithfully serve Him through life. But whether you’re starting “from scratch” with a pre-schooler or taking the bold step of removing your older child from public or private school, you’ll need a plan for how you’ll start, where you’re going, and how to get there. Learn about the various requirements and methods for homeschooling so you can get started on the right foot and keep moving in the right direction for your family.

The Heart of FatherhoodKevin Swanson • Auditorium C • CD #1043Here is a rousing call for renewing the involvement, relationships, and powerful influence of fatherhood. In many ways, fatherhood is a lost art. Kevin comes to this presentation with the blessing of having received a great legacy of four generations of Godly fatherhood. It is more than leadership, responsibility, and relationships. It is a generational vision that renews families, reforms cultures, and establishes family dynasties. Dads, get ready for a huge encouragement and uplifting vision from this presentation.

Study Like a Genius: Unlocking Your BrainRyan Yamane • Room E • CD #1045All learning is founded on one key – the ability to take in information and then remember it. Each school year, students spend countless hours studying, only to have the information seemingly disappear when they need it most. Whether a parent or student, in this interactive session you will learn how to use study tools such as speed reading and memory techniques to exponentially increase your study potential. Discover practical ways to implement memory tools such as the “peg”system and mindmaps in academics, work, or everyday life.

Parents: Igniting the Fires of Your MindBetsy Ray • Auditorium C • CD #1053We all want our children to be excited about learning. That excitement can be caught from parents who are challenging themselves in new areas. Betsy will give ideas and relate her experiences that could make teaching more than just getting through the textbooks. She will encourage you to stimulate your thinking and give practical tips on how to relate topics in which you never thought you would be interested (e.g., economics) to ones that you have always loved (e.g., history) and to the light of God’s truth. You can lead your young people in making these relationships, forming a Biblical worldview, and renewing their minds to impact their world. (Oriented to mothers)

What Employers Are Looking ForWoody Robertson • Room D • CD #1054The high school graduation gate swings wide open and, much like a stampede, students race into real life with starry eyes and determined tenacity to get ahead of the pack and win! In a day when education standards continue to plummet and the job industry becomes glutted with a lackluster and clogged employee base, how can the optimistic homeschool graduate not just dream of potential but achieve his or her potential? How do they get a job? How do they provide for a family? In this session, find out what employers are looking for and how your students can, like the Biblical character Daniel, prepare themselves to be set apart as being “ten times better” than the rest.

So Now He’s a Teenager: Why Continue to Homeschool?Brian Ray • Room E • CD #1055Many parents finally fall prey to their own insecurities and critics’ darts by the time their children reach age 14. They consider abandoning home-based and parent-guided education. The cacophonous voices of professionals, generations of institutional schooling, “public” school giveaways and enticements & personal mis-perceptions of reality can shake the confidence of even the most convinced home educator. Dr. Ray focuses on why one should home educate teenagers by examining key Biblical educational goals and philosophy, research findings, and the importance of separating the state from education. He also shares from personal experience to inform, encourage, and rally parents’ spirits and harden their resolve to continue homeschooling for the long term in order to reap the harvest of its excellent fruits.

All About MathCyndi Ringoen • Room G • CD #1057Most families think about math from a curriculum point of view – which one is best. In the experience of neurodevelopmentalists, difficulty in learning math is not the fault of the curriculum but a symptom of underlying weaknesses or disorganization in the learning ease of the child. In this workshop you will learn ways to separate the various parts of math and teach to the child’s strength while remediating any weakness. Learn the best and easiest ways for the brain to remember math facts. If you want your child to go on to higher level math, what is the most important ability for them to have to make sure they excel? Come and learn all the ins and outs of math. In this workshop you will gain information on how to teach math – from the very first starting points of number recognition, counting, and basic addition to teaching math facts and higher level math concepts.

Training Today for Tomorrow’s Leaders: Equipping the Next Generation to Stand for Faith & FreedomWA NCFCA Clubs: DEBATE • Chorale Room • CD #1058As Christian parents we are called to raise up a Godly seed (Mal.2:15). We are in essence preparing our children to stand in the gates and speak truth (Jer.7:2). Our world is in desperate need of leaders that speak truth! Workshop F, Saturday 2:15-3:15 p.m.Raising Beautiful Women of GodKevin Swanson • Auditorium A • CD #1061As a father of four beautiful young ladies, Kevin Swanson shares the peculiar challenges and joys that face the homeschool parent in raising these little women for God. He carefully paints a picture of virtuous womanhood found in the glorious, Biblical images of cornerstones, fruitful vines, and lifted horns. While cautioning parents to avoid the traps

of egalitarianism and narrow caricatures of Biblical principle, Kevin will present the beautiful Biblical balance of economic complementarianism and family unity.

Loving & LeadingBrian & Betsy Ray • Auditorium B • CD #1062Husbands and fathers, it is time to love and lead – now. Like Christ loves the church. Brian and Betsy will give you pointed challenges, down-to-earth examples, laughter, and practical ideas to see your marriage grow from glory to glory in God’s good and exciting will. They will help and encourage you with Scripture, their experiences, and what they have learned during 30 years of marriage and the upbringing of eight children.

Education the Founding Fathers’ WayWoody Robertson • Auditorium C • CD #1063Mentors, classics, and narratives: the building blocks of our Founding Fathers’ education. With the age-segregated systems of today’s schools where children are placed on a “Conveyor Belt” and forcefully crammed information in an assembly line manner, students like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Quincy Adams would not stand a chance. In this powerful session you will learn how to avoid the many pitfalls inherent with the Darwinian, grade-based approach and will regain the time-tested leadership model of education that is fully integrated with Christian homeschooling, both in purpose and application. Will your student be the next George Washington?!
