“It is good for us 'not to forsake the assembling
of ourselves together, as the manner of some is'
(Heb 10.25). I know Don Sundene and the steering
committee have put a lot of time into this. Now
we pray that all will work well. We pray for our
speaker, the Rev Dr William Weinrich, our choirs
and the music they bring, our worship leader, the
Rev Dr Paul Linnemann, and all of us assembled,
that we might be about the business of bringing
many to the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ. God
bless us in our travels and watch over us that all
might work well and without incident. God continue
His watch over us in everything, forgiving us our
many sins and leading us onward to the heavenly
mansions for Jesus' sake. See you soon.” Noel Koss

LIFE THOUGHT The Reformation truths Luther-
ans have celebrated for 500 years apply beauti-
fully and powerfully to life issues. A human being’s
identity and sanctity comes from God’s grace in
creating, redeeming, and calling each one. Abilities
or accomplishments, efforts or emotions cannot
establish anyone’s value or invalidate anyone’s
worth. PRAYER: Gracious Savior, let us honor with
Our Mission: To make the living Christ known to all people; to serve the spiritual needs of our members and community; to grow, reach out, and live in Christ.

“A DISCIPLE IS CONSUMED WITH BECOMING WHAT
JESUS IS.” (Ray Vander Laan)
“If you abide in My Word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31).
The Apostle Paul asserts that we can find content-ment as we trust in the right things (Philippians 4:10-13). It’s also true, then, that we dare not trust in the wrong things. We dare not trust in temporary, earthly things, things like wealth or riches which Paul said are so uncertain. However, many people do trust in wealth. Have you ever noticed the long lines of people waiting to buy lottery tickets? Along with every discarded stub go the hopes of those who thought that they could strike it big, those who thought that a million-dollar jackpot would bring contentment. What about those who have had that winning ticket? We’ve read the dismal accounts of those who, having obtained all that wealth, have not obtained content-ment, but more trial! Paul learned the secret of being content because he found his strength in the Lord.
OUR MISSION OF THE MONTH Through our prayers and free will offerings, we are supporting ~ ~
KentHOPE is a partnership in Kent of faith-based groups, Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, Valley Cities Counseling & Consultation, businesses, local community service agencies and concerned individuals who are dedicated to reducing homelessness in our community. Their Mission is to build community by providing stable pathways out of homelessness while caring for body, mind, and spirit.
The KentHOPE Day Center for Women and Children, 9009 Canyon Drive, meets the immediate needs of an average of 30 women and 3 children a day. Our congregation hosts the KentHOPE Women’s Overnight Shelter, a rotating shelter hosted throughout the year by Kent churches.
KentHOPE is moving forward with partner, Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission (SUGM), towards their vision of a 24/7 KentHOPE Resource Center in Kent, to provide hope and assist men and women who are homeless in pathways to stable housing and a more secure future.

JESUS’ VINTAGE OF PEACE Jesus promises you his
vintage of peace! A peace that “guards our hearts and
minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). God takes
responsibility for the hearts and minds of those who
believe in him. As we celebrate him and pray to him,
he constructs a fortress around our hearts and minds,
protecting us from the attacks of the devil. As the verse
from the ancient hymn declares: A mighty fortress is
our God, a bulwark never failing: Our helper He, amid
the flood of mortal ills prevailing. Martin Luther wrote
these words centuries after the apostle Paul had written
his epistles. Yet had Paul heard the hymn, he would
have sung it with hearty conviction. He knew firsthand
the peace and protection of God. Jesus said, “Peace
I leave with you; my peace I give to you. . .do not let
your heart be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:
27 NIV). From Max Lucado’s Anxious for Nothing

LIFE QUOTE – “I have people say, ‘We need to go out and see people saved.’ I’ve got news for
you: They don’t even know that they’re lost … Where Luther nailed those theses on the door of
the church, we need to be going to churches, Christian colleges, seminaries, Bible colleges in this
day and age and nailing Genesis 1-11 on the doors because that’s where we’ve lost biblical
authority.” Ken Ham, Answers in Genesis - A “LIFE QUOTE” FROM LUTHERANS FOR LIFE, LUTHERANS-
