    Voluntourism

    Overview

We go to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to immerse

ourselves in untouched, natural beauty. We volunteer

    with ANET to protect it.

Your volunteering work will take place on or near ANETs

base camp at North Wandoor on the southern tip of South

Andaman Island. Tucked away among forested hills and

mangrove swamps, the base camp is just a few kilometers

from Marine National Park that has great snorkeling.

    What you will be doing

Your work on the islands will help preserve and protect

the indigenous mangrove habitats here. The mangrove

forests play a critical role in not only Your volunteering

    program includes:

Conserve mangrove habitats and learn about the role

they play in protection from natural disasters

Assist with photography surveys of natural habitats Help catalog and organize research information

Supplement on-station researchers with hands on

    surveys and studies

    How your work will help

Your volunteer work will help ANETs extensive study of

the natural regeneration of the mangrove forests as well

as rebuild of the habitats that have suffered damage from

human trafc and from the 2004 Christmas tsunami

You and your fellow Always Outbound travelers each will

bring a fresh outlook and a unique skill set to ANET that

are scarce in terms of education, skills and experience as

well ANETs remote location from mainland India.

    Our Voluntourism Philosophy:

Our desire to impact communities in a positive way

guides all of our decisions. We:

    Combine active sightseeing and volunteering

with a respected NGO in short trips.

Know how to help without being a burden on an

    NGOs limited time and budget.

Select projects suitable to our schedules and

    diversity of guests.

Voluntourism: (Clockwise from top) 1. ANET green house, 2. ANET

    campus, 3. Native monitor lizard

    Why Travel With Us

    Voluntourism

Active sightseeing, combined with meaningful community

volunteering, is our sole focus. That means we:

Choose incredible destinations that provide authentic

    and immersive travel experiences.

Volunteer on existing community projects with well-

    respected local NGOs/Non-Prots.

Ensure that your volunteer efforts create a positive

impact that will last long after youve left.

A Rigorous 26 Step Vetting Process

From the selection of lightly traveled destinations and

reputable volunteer organizations to lodging, local guides,

safety and dining; no detail is neglected in the vetting

    process.

We test drive our itineraries by riding, walking, kayaking, diving, and hiking every inch. Our extensive planning

allows us to take advantage of fortuititous surprises like

an impromptu wedding invitation for example.

    Small Footprint, Big Impact

We keep our groups much smaller than most other travel

companies. We do this because we are very serious about

keeping our footprint small and positive impact on the

    communities high.

    One of a kind Trips

Our voluntours are unique vacations that take you

    spectacular destinations, provide amazing experienc

and bring guests back home with a lifetime of memorie

Our trips includes such memorable experiences as:

Organic camping in beautiful Himalayan valleys

Slow immersive travel by camels, kayaks and canoe

Scuba diving and snorkeling on hidden coral reefs

Homestays in remote and indigineous villages

    And much more...

    Flexible Itineraries, Many Options

We hate rigidity at AlwaysOutbound. Our guests don

come from cookie-cutters and neither do our trips. You

have time set aside to do your own exploring and pursu

your own activities. You can take part in group experienc

and still have the freedom to steal away for some muc

    needed time alone.

    Combining East and West

Our Asian roots provide us with the cultural understandin

insider knowledge and on-the-ground expertise require

    for authentic experiences.

Our Western experience means that we understand th

subtle nuances of Western hospitality and service.

Extraordinary destinations, rich cultures, unspoilt places while making a difference. Lets go see the world for real

    Why Go Now

The economic boom in Asia is impacting tourism

as well. In 2003 the Taj Mahal saw 10,000

visitors per day. In 2011, that number was50,000 visitors per day and rising. Even the

remote Andaman islands are being impacted.

By going now, you can experience an unspoilt

    and unhurried island paradise.

By volunteering now, you can help preserve

Andamans complex eco-system for both its

people and other travelers like you.

    Active sightseeing vacations that include

community volunteering is the reason Always

Outbound was founded. This notion of our

guests giving back and getting authentic

travel experiences is at the core of everyaction and every trip we run. Our founder

and team members all come from South

Asia. Our founder is currently a 15 year US

    resident. That means:

We speak the local language and have

local relationships that give us an insider

    view on the region.

We understand the subtle nuances of

our diverse international guests that are

    critical to a memorable vacation

Our goal is you come back recharged and

refreshed, with an idea of how meaningful

    travel can be.

Its time to go see the world for real!

A note from founder Subir Kumedan:

I grew up in the bustling metropolis

of New Delhi, India. Starting with my

two-week trek in the Himalayas at 16, I

have long explored the serene beauty

    of the Indian sub-continent.

Now a resident of San Francisco,

California, I travel to India and Asia

    frequently. The economic boom, while

helping enormously, is also a threat

to the unique mix of cultures and

landscapes of Asia thatI love so much.

My desire to preserve them led me to found Always Outbound.

Through authentic voluntours, I can share these gems whilelending a hand to protect local communities, traditions and natural

    environments.

Join me and together well make a difference.
