A MESSAGE

Kids Eat Smart Clubs serve over 31,000 meals in our 255 Kids Eat Smart Clubs in Newfoundland and Labrador, every school day. This is accomplished through the generosity of our donors, and the dedication of our volunteers. Over 6,214 parents, grandparents, family members, community leaders, and school staff, teachers and principals, volunteer to shop, prepare, serve and clean up breakfast.

With more children coming to their Breakfast Clubs, we saw an increase in meals served by 331,000 during the 2018-2019 school year, bringing the total of meals served to 5.3 million.

Additional meals mean an increase in the demand for funding. We are grateful to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador who helped immensely by signing a multiyear funding agreement. This ensures our funding for the next three school years is in place. Our Partners, through sponsorship and partnership gifts, help provide the stability to support our growth. Our community organizations and individuals continue to step forward to ensure that children start their school days well-nourished and ready to learn.

This Annual Report outlines our key accomplishments in 2018-19 and all those who made our program possible. Most importantly, the children, who come to Kids Eat Smart Clubs every school day, this report celebrates how you are making an impact in the lives of children.

The success of our Kids Eat Smart program is a collaborative effort. For this, we thank you. We are proud of these accomplishments and look forward to another successful school year of serving our children.

Sincerely,

Dr. Susan Murray, Chair, Board of Directors

Celina Stoyles, Executive Director

THAT... ...children need nutritious food to be healthy in order to grow and learn....the school system must be involved in meeting the needs of the whole child.... children require a community response - a partnership of family, school and community

for their healthy development.... everyone has a contribution to make and the Foundation will honour all forms of

contribution.... all children must have equal opportunity to participate in Kids Eat Smart Clubs.
