WHAT’S NEW FOR DATAMINE STUDIO RM V1.2
Studio RM is Datamine’s latest Resource Modelling solution, and represents a major step
forward for Datamine customers worldwide. Studio RM is built on the proven Datamine Studio
RM platform.
Main Messages for Datamine Studio RM v1.2
New!! Advanced Estimation Module
The Advanced Estimation module contains multivariate
estimation, improved variography with auto fitting as well as
Kriging Neighbourhood Analysis. It has been developed as part
of Datamine’s collaboration with Geovariances.
With univariate Kriging each block estimate is calculated from the
sample values for a single variable (grade). The multivariate co-
Kriging method uses values from other grades that are correlated
to the grade being estimated.
Advanced Estimation is an additional module to the core system
of Studio RM.
New!! MSO Version 3
Studio RM 1.2 contains an early-access version of MSO v3.0.
Consult your online Help for more information on the substantial
improvements that are now available for stope optimization.
A separate license is required to access this feature. Contact your
Datamine representative for information on licensing and usage.

New!! New Processes and Process Improvements
New processes are available in this version, including
• WFEXPND: A new process – WFEXPND has been created
to expand an existing wireframe in three dimensions.
Similar to the expand-string function, you can control the
level of expansion and tolerance setting.
• WFCODE: A new process has been created to assign
wireframe surface zone values to X,Y,Z locations. This
could be useful, for example, to code a block model with
multiple classification wireframes, or update a drillhole
file with domain information that is modelled as
wireframe surfaces.
• COMPSE:
o The maximum number of samples per drillhole
has been increased from 1000 to 5000.
o An optional HOLESOUT file can be created. This
has the same sample geometry as the input file
but contains composited values for the VALUE
field. It can optionally contain an OWCODE field
containing values of 1 or zero to identify samples
as ore or waste respectively.
o An optional ZONE field can be specified to
constrain samples within which compositing
occurs. No output composites are created from
samples with different ZONE values.
o An optional Ore/Waste flag field can be output.
The default name is OWFLAG. If an output
composite is ore then its value of OWFLAG is 1.
Other composites will have a value of zero. This
can be useful because it is possible that output
composites can have a grade value higher than
the CUTOFF but due to internal waste and/or
minimum ore constraints they are flagged as
waste.
o An optional MINGLEN parameter can be used to
define the minimum value of grade * composite
length. This can be used to force COMPSE to treat
relatively short samples whose length is less than
the minimum length to be treated as ore if their
length * grade is greater than this value.
o A new parameter, ANYORE2, can be set to 0 or 1
to control the behaviour of the second
compositing rule.
o In some cases output composites could contain
consecutive waste samples with a total length
that was greater then the specified internal waste
4
MAXWASTE. This has been fixed.
o The COMPSE documentation has been updated to
more clearly describe the rules that are applied in
the process.
New!! Visualization Improvements
The popular 3D window has been enhanced again with this update,
including the following improvements:
• 3D Variogram window: To support the new Advanced
Estimation module, a dedicated 3D Variogram contour
window provides a clear view of the anisotropic trend in
any direction.
This window is supported by dedicated tools that display
the model in 3 perpendicular planes, with enhanced
section rotation tools to accurately define your directional
variograms. Rotation information is dynamically linked to
the new Advanced Estimation workflow UI (see above).
• View-independent clipping: You can now choose to
"Ignore Clipping" in any data view independently, giving
you more flexibility in how you present your data. This
allows you to show clipping in the main application but
disable it in one of your external 3D windows, for example.
New! Gemcom Model Conversion Utility
A new conversion utility has been provided to import Gemcom
format models without cell size fields.
New! Hosted Licensing Support
In addition to supporting the latest products from Datamine, the
version of License Services installed with this update includes
support for hosted licensing, allowing you to connect your
clients to a Datamine-hosted licensing environment.
For more information on license hosting, please contact your
local Datamine representative.
…and many other improvements made since the last release of Studio RM.
A full list of changes is available in the “Release Notes” section further below.
