EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS Jane Reed, Secretary The Executive Committee was convened three times since our Annual Meeting on August 28, 2015. October 1, 2015 John recognized Alyssa Goins as our new Music Leader and John Oldham as our new Web-Site Reporter. We set our calendar dates for 2016 for the Executive Committee Meetings – January 28, April 28 and October 6, 2016. The Presidents and the Secretary will meet with Human Resources on July 21 to plan the annual meeting at LifeWay. The two regular meetings for LifeWay Retirees were planned for April 5 or 7 and September 9. We will use Tusculum Hills Baptist again for the April meeting. (The April 5 or 7 meeting was changed to April 14.) January 28, 2016 Discussed the spring meeting at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church. The date was confirmed as April 14. Jack presented plans for the entertainment,

musicians, Bud and Barbara Lee. John Oldham has been working on the Website – Check it out – www.lifewayretirees.org. April 27, 2016 This date was changed from April 28. We reviewed the meeting at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church on April 14. 116 people registered. It was suggested that we change the time to Fellowship at 11:00 a.m. and the meal at ll:30 a.m. instead of noon. We need more signs for parking and a person at both doors. There will be a changed in the constitution to amend for our September 9 meeting. July 21, 2016 John Gardner, Fran Webb, Jim Harvey and Jane Reed met with Ron Samuels from Human Resources to make plans for the September 9, 2016 Annual Retirees Meeting at First Baptist Church, Nashville.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT Pat Raymer, Membership Associate Since our September, 2015 meeting we have had 64 new retirees. New retirees were mailed welcome notes to the Fellowship. There were 74 deaths of retirees/spouses since then. Sympathy messages were mailed to family members. Birthday cards were mailed to current retirees. If you did not receive a birthday card, please e-mail me at praymer9@bellsouth.net.

LIFEWAY RETIREES FELLOWSHIP EVENTS August 28, 2015 we met in the lobby of First Baptist Church, Nashville. 116 people signed up. The Retirees Fellowship Business Session was held in the Chapel of First Baptist Church. Fran Webb welcomed us. She explained the logo with both BSSB and LifeWay. Fran Webb recognized the new retirees. Selma Wilson gave an update of LifeWay’s Consolidation and Change. There was a special chapel Service on August 5 – Honoring the Past. There was a tour of the building. A time capsule was removed and was on display. There is an Historic Team working to honor the past and move forward. Jerry Rhyne gave an update on the LifeWay Facility and Financial update. Wade Stapleton reported on the Credit Union. There will be a Credit Union in the new building. Ron Samuels updated us on the HR Retiree Benefits. Rusty Fulks had closing comments and asked for questions. There will be a bookstore in the new building. Lunch was served and drawings for gift cards were held. Each retiree received a Phil Ponder print of some of the LifeWay buildings, titled LifeWay Christian Resources, Est. 1891. Our spring luncheon was held at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church on April 14, 2016. We had 116 people to register. Following the meal, Jerry Rhyne gave us an update on the progress of LifeWay’s new building. There will be a spring ground breaking. Wade Stapleton reported on the Credit Union. There will be a full-service branch in the new building. Bud and Barbara Lee entertained us, musically. A drawing was held for gift cards.

President’s Summary of the Year

Since our last annual meeting, our fellowship has been seeing a lot of changes in

our organization. We have had some officer changes due weddings, a death and

the need to take care of personal family needs. Also, we have had some change

since we last told you that the LifeWay building was relocating; we have moved

from down by the river up to the view of that TN state capitol. All of it has been

better for the long term good of LifeWay.

This year LifeWay celebrated its 125 years anniversary and we have had the

opportunity to review many milestones that have brought exciting memories of

our glorious past (some may not have been that glorious!)

Your Executive Committee has been active in making some improvements (I trust)

with our organization. Some of these has been the excellent work of BECKY

MARTIN in keeping our email list more up to date: JOHN OLDHAM has revived the

website and LINDA STILL has provided pictures throughout the year. PAT RAYMER

has continued the great job in responding to the birthdays of our membership;

JIM LOWRY has kept our finances in “tip top” shape; JACK BARRON and CHARLES

BUSINARO put together the largest Spring luncheon we have had in several years

with some wonderful entertainment. I found out this year that this organization

couldn’t run without JANE REED our Secretary.

Some of our retirees have had the opportunity to work with our present LifeWay

employees in dealing with the distribution of some of our historic pieces and are

having some input as to carrying on the history is our new LifeWay building.

Jerry Rhyne, Selma Wilson, Wade Stapleton and Ron Samuels made presentations

and received questions regarding the building changes and important business

that has been taking place at LifeWay.

It is my pleasure to serve one more year as your President and then I will turn the

reigns over to JIM HARVEY for the next two years.

Amendments to the Constitution of the LifeWay Retiree Fellowship

At the last meeting of the Executive Committee, it was discussed that

there was not a need for a First Vice President because those functions

were being covered by the present Communication Coordinator and

the First Vice President. Therefore, the following changes are being

recommended:

Delete the present position of the First Vice President

Change the title of the present Second Vice President to Vice

President

Add the functions of promoting attendance at meetings;

maintaining an up to date retiree roll to the Communication

Coordinator

Make adjustment in listing of the officers in Article V: Section 1-

Election that reflect the above changes

These will be voted on by those members present at the September 9th

annual meeting at 10 a.m. at the downtown First Baptist Church.
