2.6 Innovative processes adopted by the institution in Teaching and Learning:

i. Formed clusters in the department of Physics, Chemistry, Commerce, Mathematics and BBA

with the member colleges as Virudhunagar district colleges of the concerned department.

Arranged meeting with seminars by the students of cluster departments.

ii. Video Lecture.

iii. Arranged Hardware exhibition by the computer discipline students to the non computer science

discipline students. By this, students search the required core knowledge by themselves and

exhibit them by demonstration. It gives motivation to other discipline students.

iv. Conducted Aptitude test and Mock Interviews for the final year students to prepare for campus

interviews.

v. Arranged excursion for the students and staff to Koodankulam Power Plant to give awareness

and safety of the Government project. Also arranged rally by the students to public to give

awareness of the Atomic project. This refreshes the knowledge gained by the students by the

excursion.

3.26 Major Activities during the year in the sphere of extension activities and Institutional Social

Responsibility

Activities of NSS Boys’ Unit

The National Service Scheme, with 5 Boys and 2 Girls Units, does yeoman services to the

student community and also to the society at large. It conducts awareness programs on social evils and

also propagates various government welfare schemes to the public. Further, cleaning camps have been

conducted regularly in the college premises and also in the adopted villages.

A state level seminar on “Conserving Environment” was organized on 01/08/2014 under the UGC

Autonomous grant. The morning and evening sessions were presided by Thiru. OSAI. Kalidasan,

Environmentalist, Coimbatore and Thiru. Mohammed Saharia respectively.

On 26/08/2014, for the benefit of the NSS Volunteers Thiru. D.N. Suresh was conducted a seminar

on “Current Science”.

Our NSS Volunteer Mr. K. Sivagurunathan participated in the NSS Mega Camp held at Jaipur from

02/09/2014 to 18/09/2014.

A Trekking programme was organized at Thaniparai – Mahalingam Hills Forest range on

06/09/2014. 30 NSS volunteers participated in this programme.

On 29/10/2014, with the notion of “Clean India” volunteers removed the garbage‟s along the road

sides.

On 26/12/2014, our college NSS organized a seminar on “Saving and using Electricity” for the

students with the collaboration of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

A one day special camp was organized on 26/12/2014 at Oldage Home run by Virudhunagar Oonja

Dhanasamy Parimaladevi Charity. During the camp, in a way to help the senior citizen, the

volunteers cleaned the Home by removing thorny shrubs and bushes.

Our NSS Volunteers and Programme officers supplied healthy food items to those who are affected

by AIDS at Kallikudi on 27/12/2014.

On 27/12/2014 NSS Volunteers did cleaning work at Chinnaperali Orphanage Homage. Moreover,

in the evening, they entertained the orphans by conducting a cultural programme.

Our NSS volunteer Mr. T.Vivekananthan participated in the 19th National Youth Festival held in

Assam from 08/01/2015 to 12/01/2015.

Our NSS volunteers rendered valuable service in the religious function organized by

Amrithanantha Mayer Charity on the 20th and 21

st January, 2015.

A road safety rally was organized on 21/01/2015, Deputy Superintendent of Police Thiru.

Madasamy flagged off the rally. Black stickers were pasted on the head lights of the two wheelers

and the four wheelers.

On 23/01/2015, NSS Volunteers participated in the “Voter Awareness Rally” to give the public an

awareness on voting.

On 05/01/2015, a painting exhibition was conducted with the collaboration of Mr. Tamilarasan,

Eranilam on the topic of “Water-the soul of world”.

A three day cycle rally was conducted on Cancer awareness from 05/02/2015 to 07/02/2015. This

rally started in our college and went through Arupukottai, Pandhalgudi, Nagalapuram, Pudhur,

Vilathikulam, Soorangudi, Melmandhai and back to our college. Volunteers gave awareness on the

deadly disease by distributing pamphlets and raising slogans on controlling the disease in the

villages on the way.

On 01/03/2015, NSS organised a one day cycle rally on “Global Warming and Environmental

Protection” from college to Thiruchuzhi.

NSS Girls’ Unit

Our college NSS Girls units 168 &169 are functioning in an efficient and effective manner. It not

only moulds our girl students but also engages them in welfare activities for the upliftment of the society.

NSS Girls unit is periodically engaged in the campus cleaning activities. It has conducted various

programmes to impart service to the community at large and also organized personality development

programmes and health awareness camps to our students. Through these programmes, it is hoped to

develop a strong nation by moulding and shaping our students.

NCC

The National Cadet Corps of our college, under the supervision and care of

Lt.N.Alagumanikumaran, has emerged into a new force. Apart from imparting regular training to cadets in

unity and discipline, some other voluntary intensive service based programs were arranged for them.

This year‟s Major S.G. Kasirajan – Kalavathi Endowment Best NCC Student‟s Gold Medal was

awarded to Cdt.M.Arun Raja.

Cdt. K.Alaguraja, our NCC cadet attended the 66th

Republic Day Parade at New Delhi and

brought a credit to our institution at National level.

Flag Day was celebrated on 07.12.2015. Our NCC students collected Flag Day fund ` 15, 567 and

sent it to Army men welfare fund.

58th company day was celebrated in a grand manner on 04.03.2014. Various competitions were held

for the NCC Cadets on this occasion and prizes were given to the winners.

Red Ribbon Club

Dr. N. Raman, Associate Professor in Chemistry, is the Co-ordinator of the Red Ribbon Club.

The Red Ribbon Club joined hands with governmental agencies and other service organizations in

organizing many health awareness programmes in our campus. The following programmes were

In addition to the above activities, on 11.09.2014 two RRC volunteers Mr.J.Sivanmurugan, I

B.Com.(CA) and Mr.M.Mathan, I B.Sc. Chemistry participated in various competitions conducted by the

NSS/RRC Department of Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai on the eve of Youth Day Celebrations.

They got third prize in the Poster Presentation. Dr.N.Raman, RRC Programme Officer participated in the

One day Training Programme for RRC Programme Officers held at Madurai Kamaraj University,

Madurai on 28.01.2015. Mr.P.Vadivel Murugan, I B.Com (CA) and Ms.S.Eswari, I B.Sc. (IT)

participated in the „Peer Educators Training Programme‟ conducted by NSS/RRC Department of

Madurai Kamaraj University on 5.2.2015.

YRC (Youth Red Cross)

The Youth Red Cross of our college is functioning under the Supervision of Dr. G. Ravi,

Assistant Professor and Head, Department of History. Youth Red Cross conducted six Blood Donation

camps during the Academic year 2014-15 in collaboration with V.Dhanasamy - Parimala Devi Medical

Trust Blood Bank, Virudhunagar. 439 units of blood were collected from the students for the noble cause

of life saving. Apart from this, our Students regularly donate their blood for needy poor patients in and

around Virudhunagar. Our college retained Jam Nagar O.T.A.V. Nagarathina Nadar Memorial Ever

Rolling Trophy fifth time from Indian Medical Association for donating maximum number of units of

blood in Virudhunagar District.

6.3.2 Teaching and Learning

Faculty development programs were arranged. Staff members attended different

seminars, and courses to enhance their knowledge. Students are given exposure in current

trends through video lecture, allowing them to learn through materials in internet by

providing needed facility and allowing them to access the e-materials available in common

pool kept in college server in the name of Institutional knowledge repository.

6.3.3 Examination and Evaluation

Question patterns were changed for Part IV papers. Staff In-charges of the

subjects are allowed to view the scheme of valuation given by the examiners and enhanced

detailed schemes are received from them. Multiple choice questions are given in major,

language and elective papers of UG, PG and M.Phil. courses. Dummy numbers are assigned

for the answer scripts. Team of staff members verified the corrected script to identify

uncorrected answers if any and took steps for correction also they checked the entries of

marks in the answer sheet. Using OMR sheets of answer scripts, marks are entered inside the

computer without having manual entry.

6.3.4 Research and Development

Research scholars are given provision to access the international research

journals through DELNET and UGC – Infonet NLIST.

24 hours internet facility is given to research scholars. Staff members and

research scholars are motivated to publish their research findings in international journals and

conferences. To motivate the young researchers college is releasing bi-annual

multidisciplinary journal with ISSN. Staff members are motivated by giving incentives for

their research article publication and presentation at foreign countries.

Required Books, Magazine and journals are purchased for the college general

library and department libraries. Infrastructures and lab equipments are enhanced by UGC

funds and different merged schemes. ICT is maintained and managed by group of staff

members. They arrange classes to the students in working hours and in extra hours by video

lectures.

3. Senthi Helping Wings Club

Yet another student service organization with the label Senthi Helping

Wings Club was started in this year. The objective of the club is to create a

comfortable environment on the campus for the differently abled students particularly,

the visually impaired. The services on the club included preparing audio study

material for the visually challenged and arranging scribes for them during internal and

external examinations

4. Self Entrepreneur Forum

Self Entrepreneur Forum has been started on our campus with the noble

objective of building self confidence among girl students. The girl students were

trained in cooking, painting, sewing and interior decoration. The following is the list

I. CURRICULAR ASPECTS

On the basis of the feedback given by the stakeholders revision of syllabus is done. To

update the syllabi for the UG and PG courses Board of Studies Meetings were conducted in this academic

year. The departments were advised to introduce subjects relevant to the present context and to meet the

Entry level test

An entry level test was organized by the IQAC on 02nd

July, 2014 to all the new entrants to

evaluate their competency level in the prime areas of study such as English and General Knowledge. The

evaluation report was then forwarded to the respective departments for further follow-up and remedial

coaching.

Feedback by Students

Feedback by the students about the staff was collected from various courses like MCA,

MBA, BCA, B.Sc., M.Sc. CS & IT and Microbiology. Students gave their feedback about the teachers

through computers. Feedback by staff members about Principal is also collected. Various tables were

prepared using special software and reports were made. Remedial actions were carried out on the basis

of the reports prepared. Such evaluation of staff, it is hoped, will definitely enhance the quality of

teaching.

Feedback on the courses and campus were also collected from the students. Necessary steps were

taken based on the feed backs.

Endowment Lecture

Thiruvalluvar Day celebration was organized on 25th

February, 2014. It was sponsored by Kodai Vallal

Thiru.S.Vellaisamy Nadar Trust. The renowned speaker

K. Chinnappa, Principal, Senthamil College, Madurai was the chief

guest.

Awards

Dr. P. Sundara Pandian Principal, received an Appreciation Award from Col.Kalyani

Mathivannan, Vice Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University for Best Performance of YRC at the State

Level for the year 2013-2014.

Certificate of Appreciation was received from Indian Association for the Blind, Madurai, for

outstanding excellence and amazing commitment towards voluntary contribution for the empowerment of

persons with visual challenges during the year 2014-2015.

Graduation Day Address

Graduation Day for the candidates passed out in April

2014 was held on 14.02.2015. Dr.(Tmt.) Chandrakantha

Jeyabalan, Vice-Chancellor, Tamilnadu Open University,

Chennai, graced the occasion with her valuable presence as the

chief-guest. She delivered the Graduation Day address and gave

MoU Signed

The Department of Physics signed an MoU with Integrated Rural Technology Centre (IRTC),

Palakad, Kerala to train the faculties and students of IRTC in the renewable energy subject an

particularly solar energy topic and to utilize the expertise of the IRTC for environment friendly

technology like waste management, bio gas technology etc., for the benefit of the college.

The institution has also signed an MoU with ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu. The MoU enables the

college to become the nodal centre for implementing Banking, Financial services and Insurance

(BFSI) Training of ICTACT. Both would collaborate to implement of BFSI Training Program for 50

unemployed youth in the district.

College Sadhana

Under the guidance of our Managing Board, the research committee successfully launched a

bi-annual multidisciplinary research journal “College Sadhana” in August 2008 with International

Standard Serial Number ISSN 0974 – 6838, issued by the National Institute of Science Communication

and Information Resources, New Delhi. The researchers contribute their scholarly findings regularly to

the journal.

The website of this multi-disciplinary journal is regularly updated to enable the authors of

research articles to submit their articles online.

Extension Activities

Blood donation camps offer timely help to patients and save precious life of those who need

blood during emergency.

1. YRC, NCC, NSS, and OBA of our college organised Blood

donation camps at regular intervals in our college campus.

Five camps were conducted during the academic year 2014-

2015 in collaboration with V.Dhanasamy Parimala Devi

Medical Trust Blood Bank, Virudhunagar, and 439 units of

blood were collected from the students for the noble cause to

save life.

Apart from the mass blood donation camps, our students also help the needy patients by donating

their valuable blood responding to emergency calls in various hospitals in and around Virudhunagar.

2. Our College conducted a Science Talent Exam for the Plus 2 Students of Our District on

27.12.2014. The Examination was conducted at various

centers of the Virudhunagar district with the concurrence of

the District Educational Office. The primary aim of

conducting the examination was to build confidence among

the +2 students who appear for Government Public

Examinations. As many as 2503 students from various

schools of our district were benefited by this examination. Prizes were given to rank holders of

different schools. Prize distribution and Felicitation function was organized on 30.01.2015.

3. As per the vision of our Prime Minister, „Clean India‟ Awareness Rally was held on 02.10.2014 in

Virudhunagar. Our NSS Students cleaned our college road and brought awareness among the

students on keeping our environment neat and tidy.

4. 22nd

October being marked National Voters‟ Day, our college NCC students organized a rally on

14.10.2014 to create awareness among the public on the need to exercise their voting right.

5. Joining hands with police department our NCC/NSS students brought awareness among the public on

Road safety by participating in the Road safety awareness Rally and drawing bulls eye on the

vehicles on 22.01.2015.

6. On behalf of our college NCC/NSS, three day Health Awareness Cycle Rally was conducted from

05.02.2015 to 07.02.2015. It covered a distance of 250 kilometres (from our college to Vembar and

Vembar to our college). The objective of the rally was to create awareness among the people on the

deadly disease, cancer.

7. On 06.09.2014, students of NSS undertook trekking at Mahalingam hills. They removed the plastic

garbages found in the hill area.

8. On 29.10.2014, with the notion of “Clean India”, students of NSS removed the garbages along the

road sides of Virudhunagar town.

9. On 26.12.2014, a special one day camp was organised at Old Age Home run by Virudhunagar Oonja

Dhanasamy Parimaladevi Charity Trust. In this camp, in a way of helping the elders, students

removed the unwanted shrubs, thorny bushes and weeds and planted saplings on the campus of the

home.

10. Our NSS volunteers, on 27.12.2014, served the orphans by

removing the weeds and planting trees at the orphanage at Chinn

Perali. Moreover, in the evening, they conducted a cultural

programme to entertain the inmates of the orphanage.

11. On 21.01.2015, a Road Safety Rally was conducted by

NSS/OBA. Deputy Superintendent of Police Thiru Madasamy flagged to initiate of the rally. They

also drew bull‟s eye on the head lights of four wheelers.

12. NSS girls unit visited the AID India orphanage, Virudhunagar and conducted various games for the

students on 20.12.2014.

13. Department of Microbiology and Thyrocare Lab, Mumbai organised third health checkup camp for

the students and staff members on 20.12.2014.

14. Apart from various programmes conducted within the college campus, the Personality Development

Cell took the students to an Old Age Home cum Orphanage run by VMMK, Virudhunagar, on

27.12.2014. Fund collected from the public was spent for the welfare of the residents.

10.02.2015.

16. Our College Mathematics (SF) department students went to V.V.Vanniaperumal Anbu Illam,

Virudhunagar on 23.08.2014 and offered dinner to the inmates of the Anbu Illam. Various

competitions were conducted to the children.

17. Department of CS & IT organised CHALLENGERS' FEST-2K15, to honour the Gifted God's

Children of Sulakarai, on 21.02.2015.

18. Old Boys Associations and Old Girls Associations organised District Level Science Exhibition on

03.03.2015.

19. Department of Computer Applications organized Computer

Training to Rural School Students of Hindu Middle School,

Kadambankulam, on 04.03.2015 and 05.03.2015. 34 Boys and

12 Girls participated in it.

20. Mr.P.Vijayavel, Assistant Professor of Information

Technology regularly visits the HIV positives in and around Virudhunagar under the project

“Unakkum Undu Vidiyal” (உனக்கும் உண்டு விடியல் ). Under his presidentship, each month the

students and teachers of a department visits the victims of the killer disease. The HIV positives are

asked to assemble at a common place and the students are encouraged to interact with them. This

injects a sense of confidence in them and make them face their life boldly and hopefully. The

students exhibit their noble gestures towards the HIV positives. They also supply them with healthy

and nutritious food in the meetings which they convene on the third Saturday of every month.

IV. INFRASTRUCTURE AND LEARNING RESOURCES

In this academic year 2014-2015, 829 books were added to the collection to meet the need of our

students.

Systems in Digital section are replaced with newer ones in our Library for scholars‟ access.

Institutional knowledge Repository (IKR) has been created in our library by means of scanning

our valuable books, question banks and other necessary documents for dissemination in e-format.

UGC-Infonet e-resource is the most highly required one to all academicians. Our College has

become a member of UGC-Infonet NLIST consortium and N-LIST provides access to all kinds of

resources which include more than 2100 e-journals and 51000 e-books by offering individual user ids and

passwords.

Our College Library is a member of DELNET – Developing Library Network. As Our College

Library is a member of American Information Resource Centre, Chennai, our college user community is

benefited by means of getting all kinds of resources.

Earn While Learn Scheme

At present, two of our students are serving in book keeping activities and institutional repository

scanning works during morning and evening hours with wages under earn while learn scheme.

Green Stone Digital Library Scheme (GSDL)

GSDL software offers a e-resource management system for storing, arranging and disseminating

the e-resources through intranet. At present, six systems are connected with server for e-resource

dissemination.

The college spent a total amount of ` 5,50,105/- for procuring materials and electronic

equipments to be used in various laboratories of the college. Department of Chemistry had been equipped

with ROTAVAP and Ultra Speed Centrifuse with Rotor Head for the total amount of ` 2,93,000/-, the

Research Department of Zoology with Hi Speed Refrigerated Centrifuge (KEMI) and Infrared Actimeter

System Cum Hole Board Test Apparatus for the total amount of ` 1,97,855/- and the Department of

Botany with Electronic Balance for the total amount of ` 59,250/-.

The Indoor Stadium constructed at a cost of ` 1,23,91,216/- with the financial assistance of UGC

and the College Management, was kept open for the use of the students from this academic year.

1. Solar Panel for power generation

The role of educational institutions in creating awareness on global issues and setting role model for

the society is heavy. It is the need of the hour to go for renewable energy as the conventional energy

sources have been depleted. Our institution has made a humble attempt towards this noble ideal by

setting up solar panels on the open terrace of Arts Block. This has considerably cut down the

electricity bill and has made the institutions to move towards go green. The solar panels installed at a

cost of ` 7,99,848/- has started generating 11 KW electricity.

2. Renovation of Administration Office

The administrative office of an institution is very vital for an effective functioning of that institution.

To create an ambience for the support staff to work with ease and comfort, the administrative office

of our college has been renovated at a cost of ` 11,13,565/-. It has been modernized with false

ceiling, tile flooring, bright LED lights and cozy furniture.

3. Principal Meeting Hall

Though the institution has many meeting halls to accommodate larger audience it was strongly felt

that there should be a fully furnished and air conditioned mini meeting hall to conduct important

meetings of academic bodies. Hence a small hall that lie beside the administrative block was

converted into Principal Meeting Hall at a cost of ` 3,08,461/-.

4. Ladies Comfort Room

To meet the requirements of the ever increasing number of girl students a ladies comfort room was

constructed at a cost of ` 2,00,385/- in between Administrative Block and M.Dharmarajan Block.

5. Girls Rest Room

It is heartening to note that the number of girl students on the campus has increased considerably in

the past few years. To cater to the requirements of these students the Management of the college is

keen on providing required infrastructure to them. A Ladies rest room is made available to the girls

students and this has been expanded this year at a cost of ` 1,25,305/-

1. The college Managing Board honored 6 university rank holders, 15 Autonomous exam rank holders,

9 university players and the students who performed well in co–curricular and extra – curricular

activities on the College Annual Day.

2. Our college takes extra care in getting students‟ scholarship from government in time. An amount of

` 57,01,213/- was disbursed to the students who belong to the backward, most backward and the

SC/ST categories. In addition, the college also disbursed an amount of ` 6,205/- to 34 eligible

students through „Students Aid Fund‟.

irrespective of their major.

The next one was on 2.9.2014, an interactive session by Ms. A.Nageswari, Asst. Prof. of

took the students to an Old Age Home cum Orphanage run by VMMK, Virudhunagar, on

27.12.2014. Fund collected from the public was spent for the welfare of the residents.

UGC Sponsored Equal Opportunity Centre

Government of Tamil Nadu Sponsored one day “Anti-Narcotics Awareness” programme was

organized in our College on 26.06.2014. Nearly 100 students of our College took part in the programme.

In Collaboration with “SNT Global Academy of Management Studies and Technology” (SNT

GAMSAT), a popular Training Institute in Coimbatore, our college organized a Training Programme to our

final year B.Com, B.Com CA, E-Commerce, BBA, BCA, M.Com CA and MBA students on 17.03.2015.

Thiru K. Kamaraj Birth day was celebrated as Education Development Day in our campus on

15.07.2014. On that day Verse writing competition on the title “King

Maker”, Essay writing competition on the title “Say no to Positions

and Posts” and Elocution competition on the title “Action King

Inter collegiate Meet for the Differently Abled Students

An Inter-collegiate competition for Differently – Abled students

was held on 5th March 2015 as a motivation to carry on their life

and career with hope and confidence. The Program was organized

to observe International Day of People with Disabilities.

90 students, from 10 colleges in all categories of

disabilities, including physically challenged, hearing impaired,

mentally challenged, autism, learning disorder, and visually impaired, with their accompanying staff

participated in the programme.

Competitions such as Drawing, Elocution, Solo Singing, Talent Show, Poem writing were

conducted to display their skills. All the students participated enthusiastically in the competitions to show

their excellence and special ability.

After the talent show, the audience were enlightened with motivating speech by the resource

person Mrs. Jc. Sudha Prasanna, a leading Counselor and Psychotherapist.

To enhance and sharpen our student‟s interest and talent

in, craft dexterity, creative writing, dance, music, etc., Fine Arts

club is functioning in our college. It has been delivering musical

feasts to our students in all our college programs including the

special camps organised by NSS. Our college orchestra enlighten

the public by offering public programmes.

Yet another student service organization with the label Senthi Helping Wings Club was

Accolade for Aces

Accolade for Aces is a noble gesture on the part of the

Management to acknowledge, appreciate and honour the faculty

members on their accomplishment in their respective field. It aims at

establishing a close affinity between the teachers and the

Management. The suigeneris of this practice is that it inspires the staff

members to face further challenges in teaching and research. The

Accolade for Aces is organized every year as a mega event in which all the Managing Board members along

with the entire staff join together in congratulating and honouring the achievers.

Research guides, who pass on their wisdom of knowledge to their scholars by successfully

guiding their doctoral theses, are duly honored by the management. The teachers, who enrich their

knowledge by acquiring Ph.D. degrees, are also recognized in the event. The teachers, under the self-

funded streams, are given increments in their pay package for getting their Ph.D. / NET / SET

qualifications. The teachers, who obtain Major or Minor Research projects from any National and State

level funding agencies, are felicitated with valuable mementoes. The teachers, who render fruitful

services in outreach programmes from time to time and bring laurels to the institution, are highly

appreciated. This includes the teachers in charge of NSS, NCC, YRC, RRC, Women Empowerment Cell,

Placement Cell, and Fine Arts Club. The teachers, who are involved in the activities of various

committees for the smooth functioning of the college, are applauded for their noble services. All the

members of departments, who produce university ranks, are highly appreciated with mementoes.

Cash incentives are given to the teachers, who publish their articles in national or international

journals. The teachers, who produced 100% results in the subjects they handled, are appreciated and

honoured with Cash Awards. In order to make the staff not to be absent on working days, staff members,

Administration, were honoured with the Best Teacher Award and Mr.B.Koodalingam, Junior Assistant

and Mr.R.Ranjith Singh, Clerk, were honoured with Best Non – Teaching Staff Award for the year 2014 –

2015 by the College Management. The Management spent ` 1,02,844/- for honouring 202 teaching and

VII INNOVATIVE PRACTICES

1. IQAC, the supreme body of the college which plans for the enhancement and sustenance of quality

education, convened three meetings in the year 2014-2015 with regard to development activities and

suggested many innovative plans and recommended new proposals to the Principal and the

Management. Based on its recommendations and suggestions, steps were taken to motivate the

teachers to develop interest in doing research, undertaking major / minor projects, and assist them in

the area of modern documentation process and other such activities. The newly appointed teachers

were also been given orientation in these areas.

2. An entry level test was organized on 02nd

July 2014 for the freshers to assess their competency level

in the prime areas of their study.

3. Teachers were encouraged to send proposals to various funding agencies like UGC, DST etc., for

major / minor research projects, seminars, conferences and workshops. As a result, the college

received a total grant of ` 29,50,971/- from various funding agencies.

4. To identify students who are interested in sports and athletics and to encourage them to participate

in sports activities, our college physical education department has arranged Welcome Sports to the

freshers on 23.07.2014 for girls and on 24.07.2014 for boys. This programme received

overwhelming response and the students participated with high spirit.

5. Various programmes were organized specially for the differently - abled students under the fund

received from UGC.

6. Campus Interviews were attended by students from various disciplines and were placed in different

companies. Before attending the interviews, they were given training through mock programs. The

following companies made their selection trials inside the campus on various occasions.

7. To prepare the students to get placements in Banks, Railways, Private and Public sector companies,

and to prepare the students for the competitive examinations like BSRB, TNPSC, UPSC and SSC,

special coaching classes were conducted with the financial assistance of UGC.

8. An Award for the best library user was given in order to promote the reading habit among the

students. This is deliberately done to create awareness amidst them to read extensively and to make

use of the sources available and the usage of the same in exclusive sections for various disciplines.

6. Senthi Helping Wings Club

Yet another student service organization with the label Senthi Helping Wings Club was

started in this year. The objective of the club is to create a comfortable environment on the campus for

the differently abled students particularly, the visually impaired. The services on the club included

preparing audio study material for the visually challenged and arranging scribes for them during internal

and external examinations

7. Self Entrepreneur Forum

Self Entrepreneur Forum has been started on our campus with the noble objective of building

self confidence among girl students. The girl students were trained in cooking, painting, sewing and
