Concordia Lutheran High SchoolAnnual Report | 2015-2016

building lives of excellence upon the foundation of christ

Dear Friends of Concordia,

What a pleasure and honor it is to say, “Thank you!” for the generosity you have shown Concordia Lutheran High School! One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how you and others have continued to provide support for our ministry over the years.

Your support has been instrumental in allowing our students the opportunity to pursue excellence in their high school years at Concordia. We believe in living out our mission of Building Lives of Excellence upon the Foundation of Christ, and we want to instill in our students that God provides us the opportunities and tools allowing for that to happen.

As a school, we have been blessed financially. Tuition and fees cover our operating expenses, and your gifts go directly to support beyond the everyday cost of doing business. This in comparison to many schools which need to raise money to simply pay the bills. Because of you, we are able to do more for the students attending Concordia now and in the years to come. Below is some of what happened at CLHS this past year:

9 Concordia received an accreditation rating as “Excellent” through the Lutheran School Accreditation Commission9 We moved into the new academic wing and commons thanks to your generosity9 Under our Global Embrace program, students participated in:

· A partnership with HEART4CHILDREN in Honduras, a ministry to boys and young men· A mission trip to Costa Rica where students continue to build homes

9 Fine Arts· TAPPS 5A State Championships in Band and Choir· CLHS students earned the male and female TAPPS 5A “Student of the Year”· Fine Arts Director, Jonathan Held, was the TAPPS 5A “Director of the Year”

9 The CLHS Academic Team placed 2nd in TAPPS 5A9 The Athletic Department had several strong finishes:

· The Volleyball team reached the Final Four· The Girls’ Basketball team reached the Final Four for 3rd straight season· The Boys’ Swim team finished 2nd in TAPPS 5A - One member an All-American· The Baseball team reached the Final Four

Looking forward we anticipate beginning a new campaign for our next project of expanding parking and relocation of the baseball field to allow for the added parking area.

None of this would be possible without your generous support of Concordia and the continued blessings God has poured out for us. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we grow to serve more students and live our mission of Building Lives of Excellence upon the Foundation of Christ.

Did you hear that? My mind just blew…did yours? In the midst of the sin,

in the midst of grief, in the midst of cancer and sickness, in the midst of

unfaithfulness, in the midst of despair, in the midst of loneliness, in the midst

of shame and guilt, in the midst of all that happens in life and at Concordia,

God is WITH us. Why in the world would any God in his right mind choose

to send his Son, his perfect, righteous, and holy Son, into this pit of mess that

we call earth? He loves us that much is the short answer, but it’s a profound

answer no doubt! Stop a minute and mediate on this truth. Seriously, stop reading and think

about this wonderful truth! Immanuel = God WITH US! WOW! Understand this truth…NEVER!

However, it is because of this truth that Concordia seeks to “Build Lives of Excellence Upon the

Foundation of Jesus,” and it’s an honor to partner in the gospel with you!

It’s a joy to serve Jesus in this place,
