ANTI-CONDENSATION HEATERS

Anti-condensation heaters prevent the occurrence of condensation in electric plant and equipment such aselectric motors and generators. Their compact design facilitates easy installation, even in small engines with restricted space. The anti-condensation heateris mounted around the two outer ends of the statorwindings before impregnation.

• Mounted for constant connection to the mains orvia relay for automatic disconnection when in operation. • Available for 230V and 110V power supply as standard • Power 10 – 100 W as stock items• Many versions, including EX and EX/UL variants

Properties• Available in EX and EX/UL versions• Available as 230 and 110V versions as standard• Available with 10 – 100 W power as standard• Compact design facilitates easy installation at both ends of windings • Designed for impregnation during motor production• Also for retrofitting (even when the best thermal transfer results are attained when anti-condensation heaters are impregnated against the windings) • Anti-condensation heaters are usually dimensioned so that at least 70% of the stator’s perimeter is covered. If an anti-condensation heater is chosen with a perimeter larger than the stator’s perimeter, it is very important that the part of the anti-condensation heater which overlaps is kept apart from the other by at least 5 mm, otherwise so-called ”hot spots” are formed as a result thereof.

Anti-condensation heaters prevent the occurrence of condensation in electric plant and equip-ment such as electric motors and generators. Their compact design facilitates easy installation, even in small engines with restricted space. The anti-condensation heater is mounted around the two outer ends of the stator windings before impregnation

Typical applicationsMotors, generators, slip ring units and other electrical equipment where a risk of condensation exists. Examples of bran-ches where they find use include offshore sector, shipbuilding industry, marine equipment, port/harbour cranes, pump installations and other applications where plant and equipment are exposed to damp conditions. All outdoor installa-tions in tropical environments or environments where the temperature is such that condensation is formed, for example, Nordic climates. A cheap insurance against unnecessary downtime and the rewinding of motors and generators as moisture and frost damage can lead to creep currents and short circuits in the longer term,

Composition/FunctionAn anti-condensation heater is usually connected when the equipment is not in use in order to constantly keepthe temperature at a level where condensation is notformed. It is then disconnected via a relay when theengine, motor or generator is operational and self-heating prevents any condensation forming.

• The inner conductor consists of an insulated heating conductor wound around a glassfiber core.• The heating conductor is connected to ”cold” terminal cables usually 500mm long for mounting to the terminal box. Anti-condensation heaters can be manufactured with terminal cables in each end of the heater or with both cables at the same end which often facilitates assembly. • External insulation of glassfiber braid for flat type anti-condensation heaters • External insulation of silicone or PTFE for round type anti-condensation heaters depending on the version

Packaging• Stocked items sold individually (see item list)• Other versions and MOQ on request
