A Faithful Note from Sister Nancy Walsh

Stewardship of Treasure “For it is in giving that we receive”

A Stewardship Thought “Using God's Gifts, Doing God's Work”

This weekend we celebrate the World Day of Consecrated Life, which was instituted by Pope Saint John Paull II in 1997 as a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world. So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples.

What is meant by consecrated life? From the catechism of the Catholic Church, 915: “Christ proposes the evangelical counsels, in their great variety, to every disciple. The perfection of charity, to which all

the faithful are called, entails for those who freely follow the call to consecrated life the obligation of practicing chastity in celibacy for the sake of the Kingdom, poverty and obedience. It is the profession of these counsels, within a permanent state of life recognized by the Church, that characterizes the life consecrated to God.” So, women and men, throughout the life of the church, have chosen to live their baptismal call in a radical way by publicly professing poverty, chastity and obedience-for the sake of the Kingdom of God. We Trinitarian Sisters in your midst are living the consecrated life. Our community, the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity, is closing our Centennial year this weekend. We have celebrated our community’s contribution to building the Reign of God for the past 100 years in the United States and Mexico, and we look forward to continuing this mission of reflecting the light of Christ to all people into the future. There is much more work to be done in the building of God’s kingdom of love and justice in our world, but we need more young women and men to choose this life of prayer and service to continue Christ’s mission on earth. Will you consider inviting a young person to consider Religious Life and to encourage them in this vocation? Will you encourage your own children to think about this option for their lives? Will you pray for those discerning this call, as well as those who have been living it for many years? Thank you for your prayers for those in Consecrated Life! We rely on them to strengthen us to be faithful reflections of the light and love of Christ.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, it is not pompous.” ~1 Corinthians 13:4 Do you get jealous? Do you focus more on the things that other people have than on the gifts that God has given to you? Are you pompous? Do you acquire more possessions to impress others? At times we are all guilty of these things. Pray for more humility. Pray to become less “self-centered” and become more “God-centered”.

The Trinitarian Sisters are available for personal spiritual direction. Please call the church office for contact information during normal business hours at 478-923-0124.

Golden Hearts Meeting The Golden Hearts will meet on Friday, February 8 at 10am in the Sacred Heart Social Hall. Our business meeting will

include the Jada Quartet for our entertainment. Following that, we’ll have our International Buffet Potluck Luncheon as we experience food from all over the world. We’re asking you to bring your favorite delicacy from your original country. If you elect not to bring a dish, we’ll be accepting an $8 per person donation to defray our cost. Please bring along a serving utensil and index card telling us about your dish. For any questions, contact Diane Pompei at (478) 971 0185 Dawn Harden at (478) 714 1137.

We started our journey by coming out of DENIAL and admitting we were POWERLESS to control our tendency to do the wrong thing. We have come to understand that God wants to fill our lives with His love, His joy, and His presence – and that is where we find HOPE! “Hope is faith holding its hand out in the dark.”

EVERYONE should try Celebrate Recovery! Because.... Who does not have hurt, habit, or hang up? Join us Tuesday night at 7:00 PM in the PAC cafeteria and see what CR can do for you. Nothing changes if nothing changes.
