Course Description

Small business organization and management set up for SMMEs and sole proprietorship Basic introduction to common textile materials, fabrics and accessories. Introduction to sewing equipment, tools (tape measure, the tailor ’s chalk, the various rulers, the seam rip per, various cutting shears) in the textile and clothing manufacturing environment,-their functions and usesHealth and Safety policies and procedure in work place for equipment and tools used generally Quality and quantity management procedures when cutting.Demonstration of the basic hand sewing stitches and their relation to machine stitchesDemonstration of Basic Sewing and Clothing Machines (Manual Domestic Sewing machine and semi professional)Industrial Straight , Zig Zag, Overlocker, Coverseam)

Select a project that is appropriate to clientele with respect to cost, fabric type, accessories , collar, pocket, button holes and make garment demonstrating skills and knowledge acquired in the course. Project must incorporate different techniques and use of the different machines.

Final Project

“Learn a new skill or improve on an old one. TCIB offers this course on a 2 week cycle. Training mode of delivery: available in Setswana or English”

We provide our students with a starter sewing kit, fabric and accessories for their projects

Course Duration: Two weeks-5 hours a Day(Total :50 hours)
