Editors Note:
Welcome to our Third Edition of
“The Goon Student Voice”. Hello to the Nar Nar Goon community! This is the third Student
Voice Newsletter for the year. We have noticed how well this
year has been going so far—3rd
Term’s a charm. Next term we
will be introducing Great Mate award badges. They will be given
out by SRC Captains when we see outstanding kindness. Here
are a few tips on being friendly that might just help you to get a
Great Mate award! Manners, don’t forget that manners go a long
way. A simple please and thank you is always appreciated. Help-
fulness, everyone needs a hand once in a while. Finally, kind-
ness—kindness can be displayed in all different ways, just taking
someone to the sickbay could make you one of the special three
that will get the award!
This is your first reminder for the Where’s Wally competition,
where you have a chance to win 2 free vouchers from the can-
teen. You just need to fill in the form on the last page and put
your entry in the Where’s Wally box at the front office.

What’s been happening in Term 3?
Our Local Community
The SRC Representatives have been work-
ing together with the School Leadership
team and the Local Council to help design a
new playground for the Nar Nar Goon Rec
Reserve.
We have taken student suggestions and
used their ideas to create a vote. The results
have been given to the Local Council by the
School and SRC captains at a recent leader-
ship forum.
The top ten playground suggestions are
listed below:
1. Gyro swing
2. Flying fox
3. Whizzy dizzy
4. Monkey bars
5. Slide
6. Swing
7. Climbing frame and Fireman pole
8. Rock climbing wall
9. Cubby House
10. In-ground trampoline.
It is fantastic to be able to represent the stu-
dents at Nar Nar Goon Primary School and
have a say in what is happening in our local
community.

BOOKWEEK DRESS UP DAY
We had a great time taking part in the 2019 book
character dress up parade. It was enjoyable seeing
our classmates in dress up. Some students chose to
go in group themes and others on their own. It was
great to see so many parents watching the parade
and it was funny to see all of the teachers dressed
up.

We are enjoying our Whole

sions. It is fun getting to teach all
of the kids the different play is the

House is participating and work-
ing well together. Last session we
played Titanic and Time ball. Ti-
tanic was a very popular game
choice. We would like to thank
our Byrne House students for
behaving so well and for their
participation.

Congratulations to all the stu-
dents who participated in the Dis-trict Athletics competition in Term Three. Overall our school came fourth in the carnival which is an outstanding effort by all those who participated. We are very happy to have eleven students make it through to Division - Co-dy H, Xavier L, Milly H, Jai H, Ge-ogia C, Lily M, Taylor D and Eden V. Good luck to each and every one!

Aborigine for a Day Incursion
On Wednesday the 25th of July we had the Aborigine For A Day Incursion. Every one had lots of fun completing all of the activities provided on the day and almost every one participated.
We all had three rotations which were: Aboriginal Art, Stories and Dancing. The 5/6’s did dancing in the first session, stories and Art in the middle session and the dance show at the end that the whole school went to. At the very start we got our faces painted in a brown stripe across our face and white dots on the brown line. At the end we all gathered into the multipurpose room and one girl and one boy from each class got to do the dances with a guy named Assa (the guy who taught them to us before hand). Every-thing on the day was fun thanks to Pancake, Assa, Big L and to Ms Cutler who organised it—so a very big thanks to them all!
