“With All Due Diligence.” This term is used in the legal sense, and the world’s

law professionals are well aware of the need to satisfy all the specified requirements when they see it written. But it can also apply to spiritual laws and we must use diligence when studying the Word of God to apply it to our lives. Earthly laws can fall short of their goal, but divine laws that have been in existence since before the beginning of time are guaranteed never to fail. God’s laws regulate all things that begin in the spiritual realm before their manifestation in the physical realm, which include health, prosperity, peace, victory, joy, and everything good. By faith we reach out and claim those blessings, but there is some effort involved. As Believers, we’ve been empowered with the authority to enforce those laws (Matthew 10:1, 7, 8), but lazy Christians run the risk of letting the world’s influences and philosophies mess up their mind and talk them out of what Jesus made available to us. Being diligent means applying oneself in an industrious, conscientious manner, which is something we are urged to do. Diligence involves endurance and perseverance, traits that are highly pleasing to God. “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised” (Hebrews 10:36, NIV). The world only understands this concept on the physical level, but not on the spiritual level. It’s left up to us as to how deeply we want to immerse ourselves in the Word. We can have just a superficial understanding of the promises found in the Bible, but that just scratches the surface. If we don’t thoroughly ground ourselves in the Scriptures, when the storms of life hit, we can spiritually drown or get blown away. It takes work to reach the point where we can correctly interpret the Word, but it’s a work of faith and well worth the effort. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15, NKJV). The work begins inside of us, where God lives. Most people don’t realize the strong connection between what we think, what we say, and what we ultimately come to believe through constant repetition. The state of our heart controls the direction of our life. “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). When seed is sown in our heart, we must be careful to water it regularly by reading and meditating on the Word, weeding our contradictory philosophies that try to grow and choke it out. Diligence can mean the difference between success or failure. We’ve all heard stories about people who made up for a lack of skills by putting in that extra effort. The stakes are higher on our spiritual journey, and dili-gence here can mean the difference between life and death. Whatever we seek after is what we’ll find, for good and for bad. “He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him” (Proverbs 11:27). We seek God’s face because we know that a glimpse of it is accompanied by overwhelming peace and joy at being in His presence. When we earnestly look for Him, we’ll find Him. “Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless” (2 Peter 3:14). Diligence has eternal rewards!

We are collecting canned goods to help build our pantry for the upcom-ing holiday season. We are collecting all non-expired canned goods, including, but not limited to: fruits, beans, vegetables, meats, soups,

sauces and gravies.

This year marks the 40th year that I have been involved in the Jail and Prison Ministry and am as ac-

tively involved in ministering to the incarcerated as ever. Every Monday and Friday our team

ministers in two of the units at the state prison that is located south of Tucson. Then on the third

Friday of every month I serve as Chaplain of the Day at the Pima County Jail where I conduct two

services and spend one on one time with some of the prisoners.

Over the years I have been privileged to be a part of many inmates accepting the Lord as their

personal Savior. Today, many of these same individuals are now actively involved, not only in our

church, but also in some of the other churches throughout the community as powerful witnesses of

God’s transforming power.

There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing the various testimonies of inmates whose lives have been changed as a

result of this ministry. Several weeks ago, at the conclusion of a service at the state prison, an inmate that had been

coming to services faithfully for over a year, came to me wanting to introduce a new brother in the Lord who had

just given his life to the Lord. What really blessed me was when he stated that both of them had been Muslims but

had now seen the light and were now born again Christians.

This is what encourages me to continue to minister to those that are less fortunate because Jesus himself said

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

As long as I can still be effectively reaching these men for the Lord I plan to continue ministering to the

incarcerated. Pray for my strength in the Lord. Pastor Maynard Weisbrod

I want to give God all the glory for His wonderful and powerful moving in the Pima County Jail. We

currently have seven members of C.E.C. ministering in the jail. We cover the Juvenile, Women’s, and

Men’s Units. During these times we hand out bibles, pray one on one, and do Chapel Services. There

is not a day that goes by that some faithful servant of God in this community is not ministering in the

jail. We see many inmates coming to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Please continue to

pray that God gives us favor and many more to know Christ.

Back in the mid-eighties, in Albuquerque, NM the Holy Spirit “enlightened me”

that there was more that needed to be done for the kingdom of GOD.

Specifically, there was more that I personally needed to do. I sought the Lord....

Through the process of Pastoral transition, the Lord provided direction.

Our new, very young 19 year old Pastor, incorporated the prison ministry. After

reading a passage in the “word of GOD,” the realization came to me this is a

“need”. We embraced and initiated a new service in the Santa Fe prison with a

team of about 5 persons including our Pastor. None of us had a clue what we were doing but God

honored our desire and availability. We witnessed in amazement, how GOD anointed the ministry with favor and the

wisdom we knew came only from HIM, yielding accelerated growth. I then, personally, recognized the correlation

of the passage I had previously read below and the heart of GOD:

MATTHEW 25: 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the

kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was

thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye

visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. KJV

This began my involvement in Jail Ministry, and now continues at Calvary Evangelistic Center.

Please come and join our wonderful team, Anna Marie Burruel, Rose Harrigan, Deborah Hodges and me, as we go

to the Pima County Jail in ministry to the women. We invite any of you who have been feeling that same pull of the

Holy Spirit, with the pure desire and motive to benefit and help advance the Kingdom of GOD. Our women's jail

ministry service is in an administrative interim now. The Mission Rd. facility has incorporated more

educational resources that have replaced our normal Thursday night ministry. This interim period provides a great

opportunity for “whosoever will” to get in to a mandatory orientation class. The class will help prepare you to be

ready to start back with us in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, to bring hope and encouragement to his lost
