Review Week 6
Inference for Means
Review the topic and then attempt the problems. Check the teacher page for
solutions. If you have difficulty with a question look at the detailed answer
postings BEFORE you ask your teacher for help.
Get a hint….DON’T COPY THE ANSWER!!! THAT IS NOT HELPFUL!!
When you have completed a question…REFLECT!!!! Ask yourself what skill you
used to solve that problem and write that down!!
Once we have completed the weekly review, keep it to study from as we get
closer to the exam.
Inference for Means
Brief Review
There are 3 TESTS and 3 Confidence Intervals that we can do for Means.
1 Sample t-test/interval for one mean:
1.) Must have randomization in your sampling technique
2.) 𝒏 ≥ 𝟑𝟎
3.) If your sample is small…check the normality condition…sketch a graph
and COMMENT…
DON’T forget the degrees of freedom…
2 Sample t-test/interval for two means:
Everything is the same except you have two samples instead of one.
Paired difference test/interval:
𝑯𝒐: 𝝁𝒅 = 𝟎
Reject the Ho if zero is NOT in your confidence interval.
