Apache Point Observatory My name is Dr. Candace Gray and I’m an astronomer at Apache Point Observatory. I study the planet Venus using our 3.5m telescope. The aurora, known as the Northern Lights on Earth, are the colorful lights seen in the night sky in the movie Frozen. I study the aurora on Venus and try to understand why it’s different from the aurora we have at Earth! Apache Point Observatory is home to a 3.5m world class telescope. Every night we study the cosmos trying to unravel its secrets. We look at everything from asteroids, comets, moons, planets, exoplanets, stars, galaxies, and supernovae. As an astronomer at Apache Point, I help other astronomers collect data for their science. I’ll show you around our telescope and the exciting instruments that we use!
