Budget Narrative Appendix B

Staff Roles, Responsibilities Salaries and Benefits:

JCSD plans to add one FTE Family Advocate, who will work with American Indian

students and families to create a support system and intervention plan for students missing

more than 10 percent of school. The Family Advocate will work with the attendance team of

assistant principals, counselors, and liaisons to develop relationships, mentor, motivate,

encourage and guide students. The Family Advocates projected salary for 15 months (March

2016-June 2017) is $49,380 with benefits of the annual salary of $34,062.

JCSD plans to add one FTE Educational Assistant, who will work with American Indian

students to provide academic support for chronically absent students upon returning to school.

The educational assistants projected salary for 15 months (March 2016-June 2017) is $20,476

with benefits of the annual salary of $24,504.

Total salaries for the two FTE positions are $69,856 total benefits of $59,565 for the

time period of March 2016 through June 2017. Job descriptions for positions attached.

Travel:

This budget item includes $2,000 for in state travel costs for principal, assistant

principals, and Family Advocate to attend state support meetings and trainings.

Student Incentives:

The budget includes $5,000 for implementing the attendance program to provide

student incentives like t-shirts, certificates, assemblies, etc. as determined by the attendance

team.

Supplies and Equipment:

This budget includes $3,309 for instructional supplies like paper, printed materials,

supplemental instructional materials and $1,500 for equipment which includes computers for

the family advocate and instructional assistant.

Indirect/Overhead Costs:

The budget includes indirect costs of 6.21%.

Sustainability Plan (Section C)

Helping students being successful in school by maintaining regular attendance will result in more students moving forward to advanced grade levels and moving forward.

The increased ADM from improved attendance will provide support for the positions funded through this grant.

A school wide culture of regular attendance has been created.
