CLEAR-CUTTING WITH A BRUSHHOG MACHINE AS LONG AS THE SITE IS DRY ENOUGH AT THE TIME OF CUTTING SO THAT SEVERE RUTTING WILL NOT OCCUR. MOWING MULCH WILL REMAIN IN PLACE. (RIGHT-OF WAY IS CURRENTLY MAINTAINED, UPLAND. MOWING SECOND YEAR SELECTIVE HERBICIDE APPLICATIONS.) THIS INCLUDES STRUCTURE PADS, WORK AREAS, ACCESS ROADS, WIRE ZONES.

B) "DROP & LOP" (DL) IS PRESCRIBED FOR AREAS WHERE SOIL MOISTURE OR SURFACE WATER LEVELS MAKE ACCESS BY CLEARING EQUIPMENT IMPRACTICAL AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING TO WETLANDS OR OTHER SENSITIVE RESOURCES.

C) "HAND CUTTING" (HC) IS PRESCRIBED BY PERMIT CONDITIONS FOR THIS PROJECT WITHIN WETLAND RESOURCES AREAS OR OTHER AREAS THAT ARE SPECIFIED BECAUSE OF SITE CONDITIONS, CLEARLY MARKED ON THE PLANS AND IN THE FIELD. IN WETLANDS, WHERE IT IS IMPRACTICAL TO REMOVE DANGER TREES BY HAND OR BY OTHER METHODS, THE DROP AND LOP METHOD WILL BE EMPLOYED TO ELIMINATE DISTURBANCE OF SATURATED SOILS. IN UPLAND AREAS, IN SO FAR AS PRACTICAL, ALL DANGER TREES SHALL BE REMOVED AT THE TIME OF INITIAL CLEARING AND AS PART OF THE NORMAL CLEARING ACTIVITIES. 4. DEFINITION OF SLASH DISPOSAL METHODS: A) "CHIP" INDICATES THAT SMALL DIAMETER (LESS THAN 6 INCH) LIMBS, TOPS, AND

1. EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE EM&CP DRAWINGS, ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES (INCLUDING THE IDENTIFICATION AND PROTECTION OF SENSITIVE RESOURCES, SITE PREPARATION, CONSTRUCTION, AND FINAL RESTORATION) SHALL BE CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS DRAWING SET.

2. DOMINION PIPELINE PROTECTIVE MEASURE REQUIREMENTS

1. THE DOMINION GAS LINE AND MARKERS (SEGMENTS 2A & 3) SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM DAMAGE FROM ANY AND ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. CONTRACTOR SHALL REFER TO AND ADHERE TO THE "GUIDELINES FOR CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ON RIGHT-OF-WAY AND IN THE VICINITY OF DOMINION TRANSMISSION, INC. (DTI) PIPELINES".

2. CONSTRUCTION ACCESS HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO MINIMIZE CROSSING OF THE PIPELINE. CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT SHALL CROSS OR PARALLEL THE PIPELINE ONLY AT DESIGNATED ACCESS ROADS NOTED ON THE PROJECT PLANS.
