where two twin twice betweenNews From Ms. Tindalls Class This week well be exploring procedures in both reading and writing. You cansupport this learning by noticing procedures in your home and talking abouthow a procedure is alike and different to other types of writing. Recipes, craft books and assembly instructions are great examples. You can talkabout what makes one procedure easier to follow than another. EG Pictures,

numbered steps, clear simple language. Notice verbs such as, cut, draw, measure, roll, paste etc and transition words such as next, after that, following, finally, before etc.

Time continues to be a challenging concept for many students as it is soabstract not something they can physically hold and manipulate. It isvaluable for us to try to make it as relevant to their lives as possible. Athome, notice what time you do things and how long they take. Talk about

how you plan your time. EG, I need to wash the car, write a letter and havea shower before seven oclock. Now its 5:30pm so that gives me an hourand a half. I should be able to wash the car in about half an hour. Thatleaves one hour to write the letter and have a shower. I think Ill have myshower first because that only takes a few minutes and then Ill have therest of the time to write the letter. Look at both analogue and digitalclocks. Help your child match the time from a digital clock to an analogueclock and vice versa. Talk about how long activities take. EG. You can brush

your teeth in a few minutes, but to go to the movies you may need a fewhours. Exposure, not mastery, right now is the most important thing.
