Hello everyone,
Well its election time at the Dale City Moose Lodge and Family Center #2165. Soon I will be moving on to the Past Governor position on the board and just wanted to thank everyone over the past two years for all their help and support. The Governor position can be a very trying and stressful job, but with the help of the board members and volunteers the job went well.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the WOTM, board members and all those volunteers that have helped the Lodge over the past year. Without these people and the time they put in at the Lodge volunteering for many functions (wing night, taco night, Bingo) these nights would not be possible.
Again, thanks to everyone.
Marty Ratchford

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WHY NEW MEMBERS STAY OR LEAVE
WHY THEY LEAVE
#1 Reason – Smoking
Responses from a Moose International survey
1- Don’t want my kids exposed to smoke
2- When I get home my clothes smell like
smoke
3- Can’t breathe in the smoke
4- Social Quarters smell like smoke and stale
beer
#2 Reason – Poor Management
1- The outside is trashy and looks like a corner
bar
2- The inside is dark and dingy and is not very
clean
3- Inappropriate language use in Lodge
4- Restrooms are dirty and out of soap and
paper towels
5- Bartenders are not friendly and always on
the phone
6- The Officers never speak or welcome you
7- No events going on or they are poorly
planned or advertised
8- Meetings are the same boring meetings and
very little information given out
WHY THEY STAY
1- The Lodge is clean and well lit with clean
and well stocked restrooms
2- Offices and staff are friendly and helpful
3- The Lodge has activities for the family that
are well planned and advertised
4- They have a smoking area that is well
ventilated and doesn’t affect everyone
It’s a place that makes you want to be a part of,
supporting our children at Mooseheart and our
seniors at Moosehaven and making our com-
munities a better place.
Which of the above fits your Lodge?

WELCOME THE FOLLOWING NEW LODGE MEMBERS
-
As the Board of Officers approach the end of our terms, we would like to thank all of our members who sup-ported us and our fundraising activities. It has been an honor to serve as your Board of Officers. We would also like to express our thanks to all of the volunteers that make the Dale City Family Center such a great place. It is our hope the information provided about Mooseheart and Moosehaven over the past few months has provided you with a better understanding of our mission to improve the lives of the children and senior citizens we support.
Our annual Children’s Easter Party will be on Saturday April 12 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Each child that will be attending must BRING THEIR OWN EASTER BASKET. Hot dogs and snacks will be served to the children. In order to have an Easter egg hunt, we are asking our members to bring in a dozen hard-boiled colored eggs by Thursday, April 10. We will need parents, grandparents, or adult chaperones to help with the party preparation and egg hunt!
We know it’s only April, but we all know how quickly time passes! Before you know it we will be celebrating our Nation’s Birthday! We need ideas for AND volunteers to help create another 1st Place Award winning 4TH OF JULY FLOAT for the annual Dale City 4th of July Parade!
Come to a meeting and share your ideas.
As you know, the Chapter holds lots of fundraisers. The reason for these fundraisers is so that we can meet our financial obligations to Moose-heart in Illinois and Moosehaven in Florida. Each of these fundraisers is the responsibility of one of the 13 Chapter Development Committees. In light of that, and to encourage participation in our Chapter activities and to become better acquainted with each other, all members of the Chapter are placed on one of the Chapter Development Committees. The Chapter Development Commit-tees are: Membership/Retention, Publicity, Youth Involvement, Moose-heart/Moosehaven, Community Service, Educational Advancement, Family Involvement, Moose Chari-ties, and Health Awareness. Each of these committees also needs a Chairman. Once the newly elected Board of Officers are voted into office (which was held March 20, 2014) we will need to assign a chairman to each of the committees. Please let us know if you would be interested in serving as a chairman or would like to serve on a particular committee. It won’t take much of your time so please consider serving. If you have any ideas for fundraising activities, please come to one of our meetings to share your thoughts and/or sug-gestions (1st & 3rd Thursdays at
7p.m.). ALL of the activities and functions offered at the Dale City Lodge are only made possible by members that VOLUNTEER some of their time. “The burden of a few is lightened by many!” We are confi-dent that by actively participating, you and your family will form many new friendships and have fun at the same time!
Congratulations and thank you to our new WOTM Board of Officers: Eva Hatch, Senior Regent; Bonnie Lamb, Secretary/Treasurer; Susan Lane, Chaplain and Cynthia “Dusty” Herrick, Recorder. The position of Junior Regent is, at this writing, still vacant.
Last, but not least, come out and show your support and appreciation for the women and men of the Dale City Moose Family Center who have graciously volunteered to serve on the Boards of Officers for the upcoming year. THE INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS CEREMONY will be held on SUNDAY, APRILIL 27, 2014. The Men’s installation will start at 11:00 a.m. and the Women’s installa-tion will immediately follow.
Sincerely,
Wanda Jenkins, Sr. Regent, Kamela Hutchins, Jr. Graduate Regent, Cin-dy O’Connor, Secretary/Treasurer and Eva Hatch, Recorder
