It’s all about redemption. It’s always been about redemption. Ever since the first people sinned the very first time, God has been in the business of redemption. OK> so maybe it’s really about love. After all, if God didn’t love us, he wouldn’t bother to redeem us. God made us. God made everything around us. God could certainly have written us off and started over again with new people, but he didn’t because he loves us.

When God stitched together a set of clothes for Adam and Eve even as he sent them from the Garden of Eden that was redemption. God was not going to give up on them, even though they had broken the relationship he had established with them. He clothed them and made them farmers. No longer could they just meander about and pick fruit from the trees in the garden. Now they would have to till the soil, plant and harvest crops, cook and eat them. But God was still with them, watching over them. And God still loved them.

The whole Bible tells us how God has redeemed his children again and again. In this first week of April we will be remembering and then celebrating God’s ultimate act of redemption. On Thursday we will have a Seder (Passover) meal. At the Seder we will break the bread and drink from the cup and reflect on what that night must have been like for Jesus.

On Friday, there will be the Cross Walk at 4:00 pm. We will gather in the parking lot a block east of the church and walk from church to church, following the cross. As we do this, we will consider what it means to follow Christ today. At 7:00, we will come to worship for a service called Tenebrae, in which the darkness of the crucifixion is remembered through scripture, music, and the snuffing out of candles.

Finally (Whew finally!) we will come together on Sunday morning to celebrate the resurrection of

Jesus! It will be a communion Sunday this year, but what a different moment from Thursday night’s

breaking of the bread! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who

believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.”

Good Friday Walk Friday, April 3 4:00 pm

In times of economic difficulty, we sometimes want to fold in on ourselves and protect our spir-itual, emotional and material resources. Join us as we reflect upon Christ’s suffering and how he invites us by his example to maintain our sense of justice and charity even when our own securi-ty and survival feels threatened.

Meet at 4:00 pm in the parking lot between Powers Funeral Home and the Senior Activity Center.

Sunday Morning Service Thanks to all who filled out a Worship Survey

on Sunday, February 22! We added these to

those who e-mailed Pastor Sue in response to

her Chimes article asking the same question. Of

the 85 who weighed in, a full 80% would like to

see us continue to have some praise songs in-

cluded in the morning service. Our Contempo-

rary Worship Leader, Dave Campbell, will be

moving to Reach and Refresh, the new after-

noon service which begins April 12. Many of the

Praise Team members will continue leading the

praise songs in the morning service under the

leadership of Wayne Chan. Thank you also for

your comments and suggestions. We will take

them into consideration as we plan our morning

service.

Supper Club

Our April 25th Supper Club will be a most inter-

esting and educational evening. You are invited to the potluck dinner which begins at 6:00 pm fol-lowed by our program at 7:00 pm.

Night Witches is the amazing story of Russia’s women pilots. Night Witches is the English trans-lation of Nachthexen, a World War II German nick-name, for the female military aviators. The Witches flew only in the dark. They had no radar or para-chutes and navigated their paths through the night skies with maps and compasses.

Roger Neill, our presenter, is a friend of the Da-visons and is a retired United Airline Pilot (Captain). He and his wife were both born in Cana-da and Roger served in the Canadian Air Force. They lived in Germany during part of his service years. They moved to Sumner, WA where they have lived for many years. The family all be-came US Citizens when their children were in school. Roger has been a Docent for the Museum of Flight and developed the Night Witches program a few years ago and presents the program fre-quently.

Please mark your calendars and come enjoy this most fascinating and informational program.

You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene,

who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here.
