Mariposa Mountain Rider’s FIRST TRAIL RIDE
April 27, 2019
LONG ‘S MARIPOSA RANCH
4333 OLD HIGHWAY, MARIPOSA
PROMPTLY RIDING OUT AT 10:00AM! Expect the ride to be about 3 to 3 1/2 hrs. Pack yourself a lunch for when we take a break half way through the ride.
This ride is an annual favorite of many MMR members. With mostly single track trails, rolling hills, studded with lots of oak trees, and creeks. Bring your camera as you will experience some great views and cattle...yes, they do roam throughout the ranch.
Also, springtime means we can enjoy the beauty of the fresh bloomed wildflowers.
DIRECTIONS: From Mariposa & Oakhurst:
Take Hwy 49 South to Old Highway. Proceed approximately 3.3 miles to the main ranch entrance on your right. If you reach the intersection of Old Highway/Buckeye/Yaqui Gulch...you’ve gone too far! Turn right onto the ranch and follow the *driveway past the main house (on the right). You will come to a gate. Pass through the gate and be sure to close that gate once you’ve driven through as there may be roaming cattle! Once through the gate proceed past the shop and park in the grassy meadow near old
truck trailers not far from an occupied mobile home.
As you enter the MAIN GATE to the Ranch, in order for you to participate, you will be greeted by a couple Mountain Riders requesting your Signature on the Mountain Rider’s and Mariposa Long Ranch Combined Trail Ride Release.
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWER THAN 5 MILES PER HOUR ALONG THE DRIVEWAY... WE DO NOT WANT TO MAKE DUST FOR THE HOUSES.
DIRECTIONS: From Merced:
Take Hwy 140 towards Mariposa. Turn right on Yaqui Gulch Road. Proceed for about 3.2 miles to Old Highway. Turn left and go approximately .6 mile to the ranch entrance on your left. Turn left onto the ranch and follow the
*driveway past the main house (on the right). You will come to a gate. Be sure to close that gate once you’ve driven through as there may be roaming cattle! Once through the gate proceed past the shop and park in the grassy meadow
near old truck trailers not far from an occupied mobile home.
*PLEASE DRIVE SLOWER THAN 5 MILES PER HOUR ALONG THE DRIVEWAY... WE DO NOT WANT TO MAKE DUST FOR THE HOUSES.
:VERY IMPORTANT! PLEASE NOTE Because there may be cattle that will possibly come to your truck and trailers while we are out riding...
DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING HOOKED OR TIED TO THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR TRAILERS (I.e. HALTERS, FEED BAGS, LEAD ROPES, ETC.) NOR LEAVE ANYTHING IN THE BED OF YOUR TRUCK (SUCH AS ANY FEED) THAT THE CATTLE
MAY GET INTO...AND THEY WILL!!!
We want this ride to be a positive and enjoyable experience for you. Looking forward to seeing you there!

PRE-RIDE on Long Ranch for Mariposa
Mountain Riders
Submitted by Tina Buirch
April 7, 2016 Mariposa Mountain Riders
Tina Buirch, Linda Scoggins, Morgan
Tramontin, Peggy DeBuyser and NormaJean
Worcester pre-rode the Long Ranch preparing
for our ride on April 27.
We rode a wonderful 8 mile ride where
the wildflowers are plentiful and should be
busting out for the Mariposa Mountain Riders
ride in a couple weeks.
While meandering the trails we crossed a
few creek crossings for thirsty horses; but,
remember to bring your own water and buckets
for horses to drink back at the trailers; no water
trough sharing will be allowed.
Don’t forget to Bring your halter, lead,
lunch and sunscreen. We will stop in a meadow
packed with wildflowers and views for a lunch
break.
This will a ride for all levels of riders and
horses. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Ever wonder about tracking your rides? How far did I go? What was
my speed at the walk, trot, and canter? What elevation was I at and
how much did I ascend or descend? You can capture every hoofbeat
with the Equilab App. It captures your ride like an imaginary friend
keeping an eye on your gait, beat, stride distance and you can even
share your position live from the saddle to let others know where
you are until you’re back safely. You can even connect with your
coach, co-riders or vet. You can track your progress with really cool
graphs and charts and compare your actions that inspires success for
you and your horse. Equilab even has energy calculations for horse
and rider; however every horse is unique and will never be perfect
as this is only a recommendation and you should always consult
with your vet on proper nutrition, I recently started using Equilab
and am finding it very cool and easy to use and I hope to share my
rides from the saddle with my friends! If anyone uses Equilab and
wish to share your experience, please contact:
