I WILL SERVE LORD
By Bro. Vic Pediglorio
John 12:26 Whoever serves me mustfollow me, and where I am, there also
will my servant be. The Father willhonor whoever serves me.
As a Cursillista since 1998, I have hadthe joy of serving the Mens Cursillo
retreat in many occasions, at thedifferent retreat houses in California, namely, St. Anthony in Clayton; HolyRedeemer in Oakland; Angela RetreatCenter in Santa Rosa; and last year, atCamp St. Francis in Aptos. The mostmemorable retreat place for me was atCamp St. Francis.
To me, it is the perfect location tocommune with God. I can still
remember last year when we had a massoutside the chapel. I can feel the cold breeze of wind coming from the oceantouching my face; the sound of wavesseems like it wants to participate whilewe were singing during the celebration;surely, I can feel the presence of theLord at that moment!
Being part of the formation team and theweekend itself with my brothercursillistas keep our relationship withone another more Christ-like. There isthat feeling of love and support with oneanother because we have made Christthe center of our lives.
Now that the Team Coordinator for 2010has been chosen, I am ready to be calledto serve the Mens Cursillo WeekendRetreat in October of this year.
I WILL SERVE, LORD! De Colores!

FROM THE PERSPCTIVE OF A
NEW CURSILLISTA
By Sister Neriza Nieto
I have tried to be visible in the Cursillo
movement ever since my weekendretreat. I have sincerely and fullycommitted myself in giving my time, talent and treasure in serving the Lordthrough this movement.
I have been searching for something tofulfill my desire to serve our Lord. Iknew deep in my heart, there issomething that I ought to do more than just take care of my soul (attend daily
mass, visit the blessed sacrament, pray, be good) I felt selfish, I worried onlyabout myself! I felt all these is notenough, I was restless, something ismissing..
The cursillo is the answer! To serveothersto evangelize! It is such a blessing to be totally immersed in thecursillo activities. I could not containmy excitement and eagerness to serve. Finally, I am doing what I feel Godwants me to do.
So I thank God the day I met mysponsor, It was actually a year ago thismonth when I walked in the WINGS andlo and behold, there was sister CoraPediglorio who immediately invited me
to join the Cursillo. It is amazing how itis all in Gods time.
Three years ago, I was invited to join inand I said yes, but I had to walk away
from that invitation due to conflict ofsponsors. Sister Cora is such a greatshepherd, her love for the Lord isevident and her passion to serve thecursillo is amazing. She is wellrespected in the movement. As God hasit, He gave me a whole flock of loving, passionate, dedicated and caring peopleas my group team. Each and everyone isa blessing in my life! I just love theirinvolvement in the community.
My favorite is the breakfast MananitaIcall it my spiritual FIX. I cannot helpbut be moved by the love in the air whenwe surprise the retreatants with oursongs. Over and Over again, I relive myfavorite part of my retreat weekend, somany caring cursillistas who wouldwake up early in the morning to sing tous whom they barely know!!!! Iremember the glorious feeling of being
lifted up, feeling so loved and hearing beautiful angels singing Gods lovingwords. I love...lovelove mananita!!!! Needless to say, I have been to all themorning mananitas since my cursilloweekend. How lucky can I be to be apart of this wonderful experience? I amalways high with the Lord!!!!
I gladly became my sponsors shadow, Ilook forward to monthly group meetingsto share Gods words with my beautifulteammates whom I dearly love, I learn alot about Gods glory from the school ofleaders, I meet more and morewonderful cursillistas in the Ultreya, I belong to the Post Cursillo committeeand help plan retreats and picnics, I tagalong in other activities among friends in

me fall in love with her in 3 short days! The night before she passed away, during the team reps meeting lastJanuary 12th, I wanted to whisper to herthat I missed her and I didnt. I lost my
chance. I wanted to recapture that lostmoment by going to all her funeralactivities, instead, I saw how dedicatedshe was to our Lord, I saw how belovedshe was, I saw how the cursillocommunity move as one, I saw howprayers work, I saw how beautiful it is tobelong.
As sad as I am to have lost her, I am soglad that I loved her in the brief moment

Glory and praise to the Lord! He holdsus in the palm of His ands. His will bedone.
The sudden death of sis. Remy Watson isa grim realization that we have nocontrol of our lives. Yes, God gave usour will and though He will never take itaway from us, He wants us to align our
wi l l wi th Hi s . He ga ve usCommandments to live by and He sentJesus to teach us how to live together forHis greater glory.
Sis. Remy was a visible figure amongstus. She was the life of every party that Ican remember. She was devoted to herministries both in the Legion of Marywhere she served as President and in theCursillo as Team Representative. She
served during the weekend retreats. Theresponse of our community to this sadand shocking event was overwhelming. It showed love, compassion and care. Our Filipino Cursillo community is aliveand well! Let us all thank the Lord formaking it possible to respond as such.
Sis Remy is done with things on earth. Were still here to carry on the Lordsmission.
Let us resolve to work even harder asmessengers of Gods word. Let usconduct ourselves in a manner worthy ofexample to our new brothers and sisters.Let us continue to live what isfundamental for being a Christian. Letus walk our talk.

FROM THE EDITORS DESK
ON MOTHERS DAY
My throat tightens with the feeling ofsadness at the thoughts of my motherand the kitchen of my childhood.
In the olden days, a womans place wassupposedly in the home, and I regardedmy mother as a real wife and a realmother. She was the one who madesure my white dress was ready for myFirst Communion, who sensed thatsomething was bothering my older sister,
who made sure my siblings ate their breakfast before going to school. Shealso made sure that my father had hislunch ready for him to take to work.
I will always remember my mother, whopassed away many years ago, leaving sixyoung children.
Emotions mixed with motions in thekitchen as my mother did her daily
chores for her family. There was foodfor the bodies and spiritual food blendedtogether by my mother at work in herkitchen.
I salute all the mothers in the world onMothers Day this coming May. In thesedays of automation, it seems like all
mothers have to work outside the home.A mother of today has to cope with allthe outside pressures in her life while
strengthening her inner self.
Mothers today have a very long list ofthings to do. Theres Monday night forthe laundry and ironing. Tuesday towater the plants, change the kitty litterand clean the bathrooms and the first ofeach month makes a convenient date forwaxing floors and washing the beddingand numerous other things to do.
We are awaiting the coming of the Lord.We always clean ourselves, our childrenand we clean our house not only whencompany comes, but also because weknow of the Lords coming.
May our lives be so ordered of the Lordthat His coming will find us preparedand unashamed, for then we can trulysay that we love His appearing.
I salute my great Mom and I salute you,all mothers of the world.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Lay Directors Talk at the 20th
Anniversary Celebration of the
Antioch Team
Thank you for inviting me to your celebration.
I am honored. But more honor to you because
you have persevered. Congratulations.
We can all look back to that weekend when
we were housed in one place, listened to talks
about our faith, received the Holy Eucharist
at mass, ate our meals together, even
developed friendships with some of the
participants and servers. We may not
remember the talks anymore but we
remember the friendships and the love we
received. Then when we had a chance to
serve, we found out how much more
rewarding it was when we were the one giving
the friendship and love.
Whether you realize it or not brothers and
sisters, this is what glues the Team together
and thats why the Team survived for 20
years. That is Cursillo. When people see in us
true friendship and joy, sincere sympathy and
compassion, as the case may be, they are
drawn to us. If they see more of this in us we
will have no problem getting candidates for
our weekend.
Just for a while, let me address those brothers
and sisters who have been with Cursillo forless than 5 years. The truth is that the
Cursillo is a vocation. It is a laymans
vocation. Once you accept it as such you will
have an attitude of wanting to know more, of
wanting to serve e more and I dont mean just
serving during the 3-Day Weekend. It will
become a more meaningful journey, whether
it is towards Jesus or side by side with Him.
Until this happens, the Cursillo will just be a
favorite past time, something to attend to only
when it is convenient. There will always be a
more important agenda. There will be a lot of
excuses; sometimes we even make excuses forour brothers and sisters.
You see, our formation will only progress if we
give it a chance to grow. How do we do that in
the Cursillo? Simple. Attend our Group
Reunion regularly, come to the Ultreyas every
month and participate in Cursillo functions.
Imagine yourself as a cell phone. We all have
at lease one, dont we When its energy is
drained, we get the charger and plug it into
the socket to recharge. If not energized the
cell phone is useless isnt it? Likewise,
cursillitas when they are not connected to
their Group Reunion Teams and do not come
to Ultreyas, will slowly fade away. No
formation will happen. The Group Reunion
Team and Ultreya are our energizers, always
remember that. So if you want growth, in
your spiritual formation, be active in the
Cursillo. Be intellectually curious, ask the
Holy Spirit to guide and enlighten you. He
can never deny you that.
That is not to say that those whom we call
seasoned cursillitas, notice I did not say
senior cursillitas, are exempted from doing
those things that promote growth in our
formation. On the contrary, they are more
devoted and self-directed. They offer their
help without being asked and when asked
they respond willingly. They are more
informed and they seek information on their
own.
Brothers and sisters, we belong to a
worldwide movement. I hope we all know
that. I hope that we dont think of the
Filipino Cursillo of the Diocese of Oakland as
the entire Cursillo Movement. We are but a
small part, but a most important part. In our
Diocese alone, we have different language
groups Spanish, Korean, English,
Vietnamese and of course, Filipino. Theentire United States is divided into regions
and we belong to Region XI. The dioceses in
our region are: Sacramento, San Francisco,
San Diego, San Jose, San Bernardino, Los
Angeles and Oakland. The United States is a
member of the World Secretariat, which
meets every four (4) years. Our Region XI
meets twice a year, once in spring and once in
fall. The Spring Encounter that is scheduled
for April 23 to 25, 2010 will be held for the
Secretar iat membe rs only. The Fall
Encounter, which will be held sometime in
October, will be for everybody. Bothencounters will be held in Fresno. I
encourage everyone to attend a Regional
Encounter. Meantime, be a friend, make a
friend and bring that friend to Christ.
De Colores!
