What’s Happening Exalted Ruler Message

Due to the current changes in our Lodge as a result of the current COVID-19 crisis, we will be install-ing our new suite of officers virtual-ly on April 7th. We are limiting this to only be done with individuals who are necessary for this meeting to happen. We will be having a cel-ebration at a future date once Lodge activities resume as normal.

Dear Members,

It is an honor and privilege to be elected as your new Exalted Ruler. I would like to thank everyone who worked together to make last year such a success. I especially like to thank PER Rob for his vision and dedica-tion to serving our veterans, community and youth. Rob and Sarah with Jr. ER Anthony helped grow our reach in servicing others in new ways. I am committed to continuing that service, ever thankful for them and our dedicated members.

We are in the mist of extraordinary times. The life that we were used to seems to have disappeared overnight. Social distancing, news out-lets, and ever changing rules can be overwhelming at times, making it dif-ficult to connect with one another. But there are also many amazing things people are doing to show kindness, generosity, and unity. Please know that although the lodge is closed, our community is still here for each other. Feel free to contact me through either of the contact information below if you face any challenges and the officers and I will try to help.

In order to comply with the Governor’s recent requirements, and using guidance from our Grand Exalted Ruler, Grand Lodge Advisory committee, and our State Sponsor, our Installation of Officers will take place on April 7th via an online video forum. We will have our celebra-tion when the lodge is reopened. I will be utilizing our Milford Elks 1589 Members Virtual Lounge Facebook page, our website (Milfordelks.com under the news section) and/or email to post official updates. We have many fun activities planned for the upcoming year. I am looking forward to seeing you all soon.

What’s Happening Secretary’s MessageElk of the Month

The Elk of the Month is Dave Field. Dave has not only been an instrumental piece of our Lodge’s success over the years, but he has been a big support during this current COVID-19 situation. Dave continues to go to the Lodge each week to check the mail, collect dues, and perform other duties. He’s also been facilitating the planning of our virtual Installation of Officers. Thanks for all you have done and continue to do for our Lodge, Dave, and your fellow brothers and sisters.

Tip of the AntlersTip of the Antlers to Jeff Hall & the Trustees for all their work to keep the Lodge in proper order through our closing. Jeff performs weekly checks of the Lodge to ensure that the building is safe.

Tip of the Antlers to Dave Williams, Joe Soto, & Bambi & Ken Crepeau for all the work with the St. Patrick’s Day party, prepping, cooking, and serving our members.

Tip of the Antlers to Amy Potts for hosting some virtual happy hours online to keep us connected to each other at this time!

As we head into our new Lodge year we do so during a very trying time for our Nation. I urge you all to follow the Federal and State guide-lines and stay safe. As a result our April 7th meeting will be held via video format, information pertinent to the meeting will be communicated by your Lodge leadership. As the Lodge remains closed during this health issue many events will have to be rescheduled. Please consult your bulletin and the Virtual Page for updates. I want to thank the members that have remitted their dues for the new Lodge year. I want you to know that your Lodge is always here for you. What’s Happening Volunteers Needed Please Note:

As with all other businesses and community organizations, we do not have an official date for when we expect to re-open. The following activities have been scheduled with the hopes that our world will be back to business as normal, but all events are subject to change based on the guidelines, orders, and suggestions of our National and State Lodge officials and our government leaders.

We hope you all continue to stay safe and healthy and look forward to the day when we’re reunited with our brother and sister Elks at the Lodge.

We hope to be sharing music with you all at the end of the month. Bring your talents and come on down for our 2nd old-fashioned open mic! Music, jokes, stories, and any other hidden talent you want to display. Don’t have a talent? Come down and support your fellow Elks!

Not too much to report on for this month. By the time this bulletin is out the Lodge officers will have been installed “virtually” new for us in these challenging times.

I do want to thank Ray Bernor for becoming our 3-year trustee replacing Pete Murray, and a big thank you to Jim Hessberger for reupping for another five years.

I do try to stop by the lodge every couple of days and do a physical check of the lodge itself and check all the refrigeration during this time of shut down.
