  • April Update Vol. 2

“What does God ask of you but

act justly, love tenderly and walk

    humbly with your God.”

    (Micah 6:8)

  • The students in the science club have had their inventor caps on for the past few months. On April 9th they were able to showcase their inventions at the Invention Convention, which was held at Ryerson University this year. The students learned so much from an organized tour of the Digital Media Zone and a walking tour of the building. What a wonderful way to learn more about the endless possibilities that are available for Post Secondary Education.

  • Congratulations to our mathlete, Reid Kalaw (gr 7). She is the silver medal winner at the Toronto Math Olympics held on April 7th. Reid will be competing in the Ontario Math Olympics at the beginning of June @ Sheridan College Oakville Campus. We are very proud of you!

  • The junior boys volleyball team have worked very hard this season. The coaches, Ms. Mangano and Mr. La Gamba are very proud of the huge improvements that the boys had since we started practicing. Special mention the captains Joshua, Adam, and Matheus for leading their team and encouraging great sportsmanship. Congratulations boys on winning second place. Very well deserved.

  • On Wednesday, April 11th, St Cecilia Jr. Girls Volleyball Team participated in the South Regional Tournament. Throughout the round robin, the girls played with a lot of heart and only lost 2 games. The team moved on to the semi-finals where they met St Nicolas de Bari and defeatedthem in 2 straight games. In the final set, our opponent was the "host" team - St Pius. St Cecilia won the first game 27 to 25. We lost the 2nd game 22 to 25. As result, we had to play a "tie-breaker". The last game was a "nail-bitter". However, in the end St Pius defeated our team and we came in 2nd this year. The girls who participated on the team demonstrated great sportsmanship, were polite and gracious. Congratulations to all team members: Sophie, Skye, Isabella, Mia, Cindy, Alexis, Zoe, Jordan, Nayla, Janelle, Kayla and Dana. It was a pleasure to coach you. See you next year!!!! Mme Czulo and Mr Brac
