DESCRIPTION
A statistical analysis of the residential housing market in Hervey Bay, Queensland (4655).TRANSCRIPT
A Message from Damian Welcome to my Quarterly Report for the 4655 postcode – I hope you like
the new, more modern and professional layout and look!
A strange quarter for the market in Hervey Bay; as many Capital cities continually report record
sales, we are faced with the situation of what appears to be a slight slowdown.
I have sensed this for a while now and those of you that read the monthly newsletter, may not be
overly surprised by this comment, however, the statistics uphold and confirm my suspicions; as this
quarter, we see sales volume drop, median sale price drop across all property types and number of
properties available for sale drop substantially.
I would not be running for the hills quite yet though – QTR 2 is traditionally our quietest in Hervey
Bay and so this year may just be normal trends showing through....let’s wait and see.
On a more positive note; this quarter we celebrated the opening of the new Stockland shopping
centre – a major extension and upgrade that has seen the retail floor area more than double at a
cost of approximately $155million. This significant investment in Hervey Bay is obviously a sign of
faith from a major blue chip company and something we should use a gauge for the future growth
of Hervey Bay.
We also see major road works start to come to fruition and months of delays coming to an end as
new road networks and major road upgrades start to open making the medical and education
precincts in our town more accessible and user friendly.
