INTRODUCTION Affinity Architecture Inc. is an architecture, planning, interior design, project

management and life safety practice. The firm has evolved from a group of well-

established design professionals, who have been the choice of many

government and private sector clients over the past two decades.

The practice holds the belief that the quality of the built environment is an

essential part of the economic and cultural fabric of society, in which the very

best architectural, design and planning solutions play a central role. Buildings

must respond not only to the needs of owners and users, but also to the wider

context of location and the environment. Affinity Architecture Inc. can offer a

detailed analysis of project objectives, a disciplined design approach and a highly

motivated, creative staff to respond to our clients’ needs.

Affinity Architecture Inc. works with a variety of clients including community

committees, public authorities, commercial organizations, educational

institutions, healthcare and churches. The practice has proven performance with

clients offering more and increasingly larger projects to our firm, such as

Manitoba Housing, University of Manitoba, Manitoba Transportation and

Government Services, Public Works and Government Services Canada, as well

Mr. Daniel Serhal, MAA, AAA, SAA, MRAIC, LEED-AP and Mr. Evan Hanson,

MAA, SAA, AAA, LEED-AP are the Principals of the firm and the Architects of

Record for all Affinity Architecture Inc. projects.

Mr. Marek Musil, MAA, MRAIC is past principal of the firm and continues to work

in the company. Marek lends his expertise as a seasoned advisor on many

projects.

OUR TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS Mr. Daniel Serhal, MAA, AAA, SAA, MRAIC, LEED-AP and Mr. Evan Hanson,

MAA, SAA, LEED-AP are the Principals of Affinity Architecture Inc., responsible

for Client relations, design, quality control and regulatory issues. Mr. Marek Musil

is responsible for Business Development and maintains an active role in many of

Affinity’s projects. Detailed Curricula Vitae of the Principal and the key personnel

are provided in the Appendices section of our firm’s profile.

Daniel Serhal, MAA, AAA, SAA, MRAIC, LEED® AP, Principal, Architect of Record

Daniel Serhal has spent more than 15 years specializing in the design,

construction and development of Residential, Multi-Family projects in the Greater

Winnipeg area. Daniel has extensive experience navigating the numerous

bureaucratic pathways involved in bringing new projects on raw lands, within

existing neighbourhoods, to fruition. In particular, from the outset of Design,

Daniel focuses on the synthesis of construction, schedule and team-building

which together determine the profitability of a development project.

Evan Hanson, MAA, AAA, SAA, LEED® AP, Principal, Architect of Record

Evan Hanson has been working in the architectural field for the past 7 years at

various firms throughout Winnipeg. His work history afforded him extensive

experience in all aspects of architectural design, construction documentation and

contract administration. A significant portion of his past employment was in

affordable, multi-unit residential design. He maintains connections with

Consultants in that field who further augment his knowledge base. Evan also

worked successfully for two years performing contract administration for a

sizeable rural construction project.

Evan feels strongly about representing his clients with professionalism and prides

himself in leading a project team to create carefully thought-through and

thorough construction documents. This commitment to quality has resulted in

most of his past projects tendering below, or on budget. Furthermore, his

projects are consistently built with remarkably few change orders.


Marek Musil, MAA, MRAIC – Principal, Architect of Record

Marek Musil has had a broad range of experience in commercial, corporate,

institutional and light industrial projects ranging from small projects to multi-

million dollar developments. Of particular interest is Marek’s thorough knowledge

of the real estate and development industry, in which he acted as a client to

architects, and corresponding understanding of the building process from the

Owner’s perspective. His knowledge of building codes and by-laws, and his

experience in dealing with various authorities having jurisdiction, has proven

invaluable in many projects, involving creative reuse of existing properties as well

as zoning agreements with various municipalities.

The small size of the firm makes it possible for Mr. Musil to be closely involved in

every aspect of the firm’s work and be personally available to his Clients.

Consequently, the firm is very flexible in tailoring its services to the Clients’

specific needs. This flexibility and personal attention of the senior staff has made

the firm a preferred choice of several design-build Clients.

Andrew Skelton, MAA

Andrew Skelton has spent substantial portions of his career on both sides of The

Code Authority and in private practice. He still sits on numerous boards that help

shape the regulations that form the backbone of our industry and as a result, has

become our local Code expert. Andrew also has broad experience in

commercial projects in the extreme North as well as across the length of

Canada’s more populated South.

Hana Musil, M.Arch. – Interior Designer

Hana Musil has both an architectural and an interior design background and

specializes in architectural interior design. She has acted as Senior Interior

Designer for a variety of projects demonstrating her extensive experience in

millwork and finishes detailing. As an Interior Designer working for a major

Winnipeg architectural firm and later as an independent consultant, she has been

involved in a number of high quality corporate, commercial and institutional

projects.


Andy Misurka, B.E.S. (Architecture), Senior Technologist

Andy Misurka has a range of experience in both design and the technical field.

As a result, he has developed considerable practical experience in Project

Management and coordination of large design teams. In drawing production

stage, he specializes in coordination of complex construction documents. He is

also a strong Contract Administrator, providing many of our construction-related

services.

Joel Tranq, C.E.T., Architectural Technologist

Joel is a senior architectural technologist experienced in project coordination and

preparation of construction documents. He is highly proficient in CAD drafting

and coordination of project consultant teams. In addition to taking on

increasingly more significant project tasks, he is also currently advancing his

education to become an architect.

Miroslav Debnar, C.T., Architecture Technologist

Miroslav Debnar has developed in our office into an accurate and efficient

draftsman. His primary responsibility is in the production of working drawings and

development of office computer drafting standards. As every other member of

our team, Miro is involved in all stages of project development, from design

through construction to project close-up and warranty review.

Andrew Wilkinson

Andrew is an architectural technologist and an architect-in-training. He has

extensive design and construction experience in detailing of millwork and interior

finishes.

Mark Funk

Mark Funk is an architectural technologist and an architect-in-training.

Project Name: Princess Auto New Retail Store Winnipeg, Manitoba Project Description: Princess Auto is a nationwide manufacturer and retailer of tools and equipment. This 40,000 sf Winnipeg store was delivered by design-build method in conjunction with Ernst Hansch Construction Ltd. Due to a very ag-gressive project schedule, the project was fast-tracked with sequential permit applications and subtrade tendering.
