May 2018 President’s Message Hi everyone, I hope spring is finally here. It sure took its time.

Don Oehlert went in for heart testing and they found a blockage in one of Don’s arteries. They installed a stint and he called me right after the surgery and is doing well. Next time we see Don, he will be his old self.Next time you see Don, let him know how important his friendship is to us. Include Donna on this, also. They are the best of friends.

Someone left a black wool short jacket at the last meeting where Dave Smith’s normally sits. This is an XL in size and is a John Henry label. Kevin, is this yours?

Gerry and Ed Davis have published a new updated club roster and if you need one, contact me and I can get you a new improved club roster. Thank you, Gerry and Ed for this support.

Again, I must mention that we need to get started with assisting the Oklahoma Olds Club with the 2019 OCA National Meet in Wichita, KS. The Archway Olds Club has the experience of how and what to do to put on the national event from our experience with the 2013 OCA nationals. Our club needs to take the lead and get started with organizing duties of whom will take the lead and get started organizing each function each club will be responsible for. Archway has a better understanding what needs to be accomplished and at what time each duty needs to have completion. Most organizing can be accomplished by emails or phone calls. I keep going back to our group of volunteers that need to step forward to assist the Oklahoma group very soon and let me know from the papers I handed out at the last meeting which duties you would kike to get involved with to make the 2019 OCA nationals a success. This will be an indoor event so sunburns are of no concern or the rain either.

NOTE: I am organizing our first trip to meet with the Oklahoma club in Wichita Kansas for an overnight stay on Thursday, May 10th and Friday, May 11th. This is a long travel so we will depart very early to get into Wichita around mid-afternon to get a tour of the Century II performing Arts and Convention Center and where we are considering trailer parking. We will conduct a meeting through dinner and after to get these duties and agenda mostly complete. Stay close by overnight and after breakfast, meet again to go over what we thougth about overnight and to complete duties on the agenda list then travel back home and be back before dark. We are meeting during the weeks so we can meet with the “A” team from the Convention Center, Hyatt Hotel event staff and banquet staff along with the Chamber of Commerce on this trip. Thursday and Friday meetings.

This is the time I need you to consider taking some time away from home and travel with us to Wichita for this first gathering. We need volunteers to sign up for duties that will need your time and talent organizing to make this 2019 OCA nationals a success. Please consider this request of your support. Contact me if you are going. We have not decided upon a hotel to stay at. Our host hotel is the Hyatt Regency, 400 West Waterman, as we may stay there.

I have contacted the food truck we had a last year’s All Oldsmobile Fun Show and reserved the Wing Nut Food Truck for our 2018 All Oldsmobile Fun Show on the fourth Sunday in September.

I am working with board members on the 2018 Route 66 Guitars and Cars display in downtown Kirkwood at this time. They have decided to charge an entry fee for cars to display. That is not going well with me. They will get back to me with a consideration of that entry for us to display our antique cars for their benefit. More to follow at the next meetinga s we wil need to either register or just be walk-ins and enjoy.

We will have new club business cards for you to take and hand out to other Oldsmobile owners through this 2018 car show and car cruise season. Also, more Fun Show fliers will be available at the next meeting.

Mark you calendars for the 2018 Christmas Brunch at the same location as last year, Andrea’s South County, off of Telegraph Road on Sunday, December 9th starting at 10:30 a.m. Thank you, Don, Gerri and Ed for organizing this holiday reservations early.

Memories on Main Street fliers will be available at the monthly meeting. Please take a stack and hand out at the car events you attend.

APRIL MEETING MINUTES • President Gene Bossaller called the March 2018 Archway

Olds Meeting to order 7:09 pm at the Sports Café in Bridgeton, March 13th, 2018.

• No guests new were present at the meeting. • One new acquisition: Member Bill Walter purchased a 1966

Impala • Easter show was cold windy & everyone went home at 2:00

p.m. Members left early due to a snow prediction. All still had a good time.

• Gene has extra stuff from Easter show to give out at the meeting

• Ordering 75 more 2018 Fun Show fliers was approved to be ordered

• Gene has window cards, suggestions was said to add website to cards

• Gene was voted to be zone director for two more year • Wednesday night activity at the OCA Nationals was

suggested a movie at the cyclotron on the Battle of Pickets charge.

• Gerry Davis emailed new Roster. • Jerry Wilson informed us on the new OCA website and

updates. • Charles informed us that the 2018 Orphan Car Show this year

will be held at the Museum of Transportation and not at Forest Park History Museum on Sunday June 3rd.
