The Violent Battle Between Iraq and Isis Regions

This is what it looks like in Iraq before a big war.

American troops are trying to settle Isis and Iraq from fighting with their regions. These regions have been fighting for a while and the U.S ground troops are trying to help, but they won’t give in and stop.

Obama, the president of the U.S.A is going to limit the amount of ground troops to be sent to Isis as advisors in combat conditions try and calm down this battle. Reported Brain Knowlton, “Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the Senate Armed

forward. I believe that will prove true,” General Dempsey said. “But if it fails to be true, and if there are threats to the United States, then I, of course, would go back to the president and make suggestion that may include the use of U.S. military ground forces.”

Mr. al-Baghdadi and others were violent, to adverse to attack our country. Their time in prison grew their popularity and gave them advantages to make a bigger group. But the U.S is trying to convince Isis and Iraq from fighting with their regions

Google Glass: The Web in your Hands

Sed et tellus at quam sagittis pharetra. Donec faucibus sagittis justo.

What if there was a headset that you wear like a pair of glasses? What if those glasses could give you walking directions or take pictures? That dream is now a reality. The Google Glass is pairs of glasses that have a small glass prism hanging over your right eye. The Google Glass is made of lightweight titanium because the processer and battery add weight. The Google Glass has a miniscule touch screen box on the side of it, which helps you control the glass. Helping people do everyday things you would do on your phone is what Google Glass is made for except doing it all in the form of glasses. According to the Washington Post, “Google has announced that it’s popping prescription lenses into the models.”

The miniature glass prism is kind of like the screen of your phone. That glass can display your Emails, videos, newspapers, and apps/games. “It's a little hard to describe, but it's basically like wearing a heavier pair of glasses with a small screen that hangs just out of your direct line of vision.” Stated the Washington Post newspaper. The wonderful Google glass can send Emails for you, give you walking directions and allow you to take pictures and videos. The glass can send texts, and call other people. The headset talks into your ear while giving you walking directions on the GPS app. You can take ten second videos and multiple pictures. Google Glass is waterproof and you can wake up the glass by looking up. You can

also tell Glass to do something by saying,” Okay Glass do ______________”

The Google glass is not available to the world yet. You may have seen people with them on, but these people are part of Google’s Beta program, which the company calls “Glass Explorers”. The Washington Post says. The Glass Explorers advertise the Google Glass by going on “adventures” and showing costumers what Google Glass can do in situations like hiking or cooking. “You have to apply to become one of those explorers, and it comes at a steep price: $1,500. That's expensive, but remember that the devices out now are prototypes, aimed at developers and others who may have cool ideas about how to use the technology in the future.” Washington Post states.

As I stated before, for Glass Explorers it costs $1,500. Although, when it comes out to the public it is heard that the glass will be several hundred dollars less. The titanium frames cost $225 dollars and also Google plans to add clip on sunglasses for the glass with an extra $150.

“VSP will reimburse members based on their prescription plan, with an average reimbursement of $120, plus the cost of buying prescription lenses, but it will not subsidize the computer portion of Glass.” Reported Claire Cain Miller from the New York Times. Google is going to offer 40 different style and color variations as well.

The Glass is a bittersweet invention. Since the public has heard of the glass, there has been a controversy about the privacy when taking a picture of video. Some people are worried that when the glass comes out, the customer wearing the glass can video tape them and they won’t know. It is very hard to tell if someone wearing the glass taking a picture or video of you. Some people think this is an immense problem because it is invading their privacy and very unsafe. To see if someone

wearing Glass is recording you, you would have to look closely to see if the prism glass is over the right eye and is lit up. Overall, the public isn’t sure if the Google Glass is right for them. The Google Glass, assisting you all day everyday, will be the next “IPhone!”

Russian Dogs, Going into Space?

This is Laika (The Russian space dog) getting into her capsule about to go into space exploration.

In a miniscule establishment in the center of Russia, scientists would find stray dogs on the streets and train them to become heroes. The dogs would get trained to be able to handle floating freely though the space, in other words zero gravity. The very first “Russian space dog” had the name of Laika. She was sent up into space on the 3rd of November in 1957. This program was originally started because men back then were cowards and were afraid to go into space exploration themselves. They decided to create this program so that canines could experience space exploration. These scientists were bittersweet, on one hand they were risking a dogs life to save their own, and on the other hand without them, Laika would have never had the chance to become a hero.

Laika was a legend back in the day. Amazed and mind blown, people would look up to her as an inspiration. In her honor they created a monument to represent the hero of a dog she was. This monument was crafted on April 11th, 2008 for scientists and many others who felt deep remorse about making her go into space causing her disastrous death. Laika’s monument was built by the military research facility in Moscow. Many things had happened in Moscow. Laika’s monument was built there and Moscow happens to be originally where Laika was trained to become a space dog, noted Jake Willis Simon.

To follow in her paw prints, two more dogs Belka and Strelka began to work in the same program in 1960. After a year of training it was time for the two to finally go up into space. Significantly, the spacecraft survived the trip there and back with no harm done to the two canines or the capsule. However, the pair did plummet from an immense height. They fell from 125 miles up in the sky straight down to the earth’s surface, says Steve Robson. Searching for the spacecraft, it took the scientists over a week to find exactly where it landed. At the time, there was a snow blizzard going on while temperatures have dropped to below freezing point. The only thing keeping the two dogs alive was the warmth of each other and of the space capsule. Belka and Strelka have too made history. Because of their trip to space they had created a world record. A record for the longest time that a dog has survived in space, 22 days. And the best part all together about their record was the two of them (Strelka & Belka) never got hurt or

mentally damaged form the trip. These two weren’t the kind of famous that Laika was, but they were pretty well known. Their story is still and will forever be in the National Maritime Museum explained Carol Kino.

“Americans used monkeys for space exploration. In the early decades of the Russian space project, however, it was decided that dogs would be preferable,” Jake Willis Simon stated. That’s right! Canines weren’t the first decision for space exploration, monkeys were. Scientists thought that because monkeys had the closest make up to humans that they would be best for training and working a capsule. They soon found out that they weren’t as easy to train as expected so they decided that it wouldn’t have been a smart choice to send them up into space.

capsule. They soon found out that they weren’t as easy to train as expected so they decided that it wouldn’t have been a smart choice to send them up into space. That’s when they began to run tests and soon found out that canines would be the best for space exploration. In conclusion, Russian dogs have been sent into space for both the wrong reason and the right. The dogs were forced to do something that they didn’t sign up for. Making them risk their lives for selfish scientists is wrong. They shouldn’t make an innocent animal like dogs go up in space if they’re not 100% sure how safe it is, just because there are so many more dogs in the world. If a dog goes into space and dies you will never find another exactly like him or her. Think about it, there are a lot of humans why don’t we use them for our tests? That’s because every individual is special in their own unique way and can someday make a difference in the world. The same should go for not only dogs but for all species of animals too. How would you feel if you were forced into risking your life to make a resolution in the scientific world? Written By, Arden MacNeil

Sandy’s Wrath

In 2012 a major storm hit NYC and NJ, this storm really affected both states in harmful ways. One of the parts of New Jersey was badly destroyed. The part of NJ was Lavallette, NJ. In Lavallette a roller coaster had been swept to shore and into the ocean. Many homes and building have been destroyed in the gigantic storm Sandy! Eventually, those homes will be fixed in no time. The boardwalk and rides will be rebuilt in two more years.

Trick or Trouble

According to Forbes Magazine, these are the top 15 most-searched costumes for 2014 Halloween.

1. Frozen – 1,192,000 (includes searches Elsa, Olaf & other characters) 2. Zombie – 863,000 3. Ninja – 863,000 4. Pirate – 796,000 5. Clown – 659,000 6. Witch – 588,000 7. Vampire – 565,000 8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – 536,000 9. Book of Life – 308,000 10. Flapper – 277,000 11. Batman – 251,000 12. Despicable Me – 233,000 13. Maleficent – 227,000 14. Monster High – 206,000 15. Star Wars – 148,000

As you can see 8 of the top 15 costumes should involve weapons. In some areas, it’s a significant rule that children are not allowed to have any weapons at all. With all the pandemonium that goes on during Halloween, the last thing kids want is to be told what they can wear. Starting with younger kids, the adults hope that this “rule” sticks with them as they grow and get older. The main reason why parents want to ban weapons is because it may cause violence and foul behavior in the future. Even though it may not seem like Halloween can change from being fun and silly to dangerous and scary. Like I always say, “Trick-or-trouble!”
