COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER As the 2014 baseball season begins, we celebrate a very busy off season full of im- portant community efforts and meaning- ful charitable impact. In 2013, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foun- dation raised a record 6.2 million dollars, in- cluding a 50/50 raffle record of $1.6 million - that means D-backs fans scored nearly $800,000 in raffle prizes! The remaining $800,000 in charitable funds allowed the Arizona Diamondbacks Founda- tion to launch one of the most important com- munity programs to date. The D-backs Give Back Jersey program is highlighted in this is- sue and we hope you will take a moment and learn more about this incredible youth sports outreach program – funded by our loyal 50/50 supporters and fans. We know it is important to understand the impact of the funds raised and believe that fans will be proud of this new charitable initiative. In the coming weeks, you will learn more about the location of our next “Diamonds Back” Field thanks to our partners at APS and the generous Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher who has chosen to be a part of this very special program. Our 34th “Diamonds Back” field is under construc- tion and will be unveiled on May 16th! Look for details in the next edition of our newsletter. We hope you will join us on Sundays after the game for Kids Run the Bases for Phoenix Chil- dren’s Hospital. Every time a child crosses home plate, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation will donate $1 to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Look for exciting news from Paul Goldschmidt and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation in early May. Fans will have a unique way to share in Paul and his wife, Amy’s commitment to pro- vide hope and comfort to families at Phoenix Children’s. Evening on the Diamond presented by University of Phoenix is the signa-ture fundraising event of the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. As the largest fundraiser for the Foundation, Evening on the Diamond has become an important tradition that kicks off the season each year. D-backs players and coaches including Miguel Mon-tero, Aaron Hill, Martin Prado, Mark Trumbo, Cody Ross, Paul Goldschmidt and many others enjoyed mingling with the Valley’s top companies and philanthropists.

The eighth annual event took place following the 2014 season opener in Australia. On Thursday, March 27th Chase Field served as a western back-drop for the “Denim on the Diamond” themed event for nearly 700 guests who enjoyed a live performance by country star, Jake Owen. Always a highlight of the evening, celebrity auctioneer Derrick Hall catapulted

the event’s live auction to nearly $900,000. The exciting auction line-up featured trips with the team, experiences around the world, a cus-tom 2014 Ford F-150 FX4 donated by Sanderson Ford and one-of-a-kind jewelry designed by Addison Taylor Fine Jewelry.

Guests generously contributed to the Big League Dreams campaign in sup-port of the D-backs Give Back jersey initiative. The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation, University of Phoenix, Western Refining and many other cor-porate partners are commitment to education and youth programs in our community.

The 2014 gala raised $1.9 million and has raised $12 million overall. Funds benefit charities and nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have teamed up with Parker & Sons Plumbing and A/C to showcase the important work of Special Olympics Arizona in an effort to raise chari-table funds and create an important commu-nity conversation about the growing number of Special Olympics Arizona athletes and student athletes from the Special Olympics Unified Sports program that are benefitting from the innovative, inclusive and inspiring programs of Special Olympics Arizona. The D-backs encourage fans to support Special Olympics Arizona by making a donation on-line at dbacks.com/everybodywins.

D-backs outfielder A.J. Pollock will host Special Olympics athletes at various events throughout the season. To help kick off the partnership, several Special Olympics ath-letes will form a spirit line to greet players as they take the field. Pollock has been as-sociated with Special Olympics since grade school. He befriended many Special Olym-pics athletes and student athletes while in Connecticut.

In addition to making a contribution on the D-backs Web site, fans can also help by call-ing on Parker & Sons for any of their Plumb-ing or A/C needs. Parker & Sons will donate $25 for each A/C system or water softener install and $5 for every maintenance or repair performed in 2014. Together, the D-backs and Parker & Sons hope to raise $400,000 to benefit Special Olympics Arizona.

D-BACKS GIVE BACK YOUTH JERSEY PROGRAM

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

This spring the Arizona Diamondbacks launched an innovative community program designed to support the advancement of youth baseball and softball across the state. Over 22,000 young athletes and their coaches celebrated Little League Opening Day in D-backs branded jerseys and corresponding caps.

The financial impact of the D-backs Give Back Youth Jersey Program has significantly offset diminishing resources and allowed the 30 leagues to make investments in other key areas. Youth league enrollment has increased with an unprecedented excitement for the D-backs association and big league quality uniforms. The more than 75 color combinations include the traditional Sedona Red, white, black and gray style as well as throwback colors purple and teal and unique options like camouflage and gold.

The 2014 leagues receiving jerseys and caps were Ahwatukee, Alhambra, Arcadia, Cactus Little League, Cactus Youth Baseball, Casa Grande, Chandler American, Chandler National, Chandler Youth Baseball, Deer Valley, Desert Ridge, Diamondback Little League, Dynamite Cal Ripken, Gila River, Gilbert, Goodyear, High Desert, Holiday Park, Litchfield Park, McCormick, Old Scottsdale Youth Baseball, Queen Creek, Ramms, Salt River, Scottsdale Cal Ripken, Shaw Butte, South Scottsdale, Tempe Guadalupe, Tempe Rio, Tempe South and Wickenburg.

Leagues interested in joining the 2015 expansion of the jersey program should visit dbacks.com/giveback for more information.
