Subject: MCCCD Opportunities
At MCCCD (Maricopa County Community College District), we are excited about your
school’s participation in the 2017 Arizona High School Auto Challenge. You are about to lead your
students into an experience that’s had a profound impact on many young men and women’s careers
and lives. Every school that enters the competition has a chance to earn a place in the hands-on
challenge! Everyone who sets out on this path opens the door to an experience that prepares him or her for
the dynamic and challenging field of automotive technology. MCCCD is proud to be a part of that
experience!
MCCCD has a rich 53 year history and is one of the largest community college districts in the United
States, serving more than 128.000 students each year at a tuition cost of $84.00 per credit hour for
Arizona residence. The programs offered at MCCCD include those leading to a two-year associate
degree, and occupational certificates, as well as online classes, and dual enrollment programs. As
you teach your students the skills necessary to service modern cars and trucks, I am hopeful that you will
encourage them to consider a career in today’s exciting automotive service industry. In doing so,
please encourage them to consider MCCCD as a post-secondary opportunity offering advanced
automotive training through certificates and degrees. Knowing that your leadership is the critical factor
in creating interest among your students.
Please keep up the good work! Sincerely,
Bryce Bond Don Davis Steve Folks

Dear Automotive Instructor:
Get your students ready to start their engines! MCCCD (Maricopa County Community Colleges) is proud to announce the start of the
2017 Arizona High School Auto Challenge. Put your Juniors and Seniors to the test as they compete against other high school students statewide to illustrate their automotive skills and expertise. MCCCD will host the second annual Arizona High School Auto Challenge at Glendale Community College located @ 6000 W Olive Ave, Glendale, AZ 85302. Written test is scheduled for Wednesday January 25th 2016 at your site via computer/internet and the hands-on challenge is scheduled for Friday April 28th 2016 @ Glendale Community College. Throughout the challenges, contestants vie for placement, scholarships and prizes!
About the Competition
The Arizona High School Auto Challenge features an online 50 question multiple choice qualifying exam on Wednesday January 25th 2017, and then the top 10 qualifying schools in the State will have a team of 2 seniors and 1 alternate travel to Glendale Community College and demonstrate their automotive skills “hands-on” by fixing a uniformly “bugged” vehicle while attempting to exhibit the
highest level of quality workmanship in 90 minutes. Automotive technology changes at a fast pace and the Arizona High School Auto Challenge seeks to give students a real-life experience repairing vehicles with the most current technology.
Benefits to the Students
The Arizona High School Auto Challenge highlights the importance of encouraging talented young people to pursue careers as
automotive service technicians. The Arizona High School Auto Challenge qualifying exam gives all students the experience of sitting
for the ASE certification tests. Arizona High School Auto Challenge will be giving out awards, tools and scholarships for one of the
following Colleges, Mesa Community College Automotive Program, Glendale Community College Automotive Program and Gateway
Community College Automotive Program.
