As Armstrong Creek’s first newspaper deliverer, Donovan Karlich is looking

forward to his new job and helping to turn the region’s newest suburb

into a community.

GEELONG’S newest suburb Armstrong Creek is blossoming into a community, with 150 homes already occupied.

Donovan Karlich, 11, lives on a farm in Mount Duneed, just a stone’s throw from the Warralily development where the new residences are, and where he will be the Armstrong Creek Times first newspaper deliverer.

Donovan already delivers catalogues in Torquay, and is planning on sharing his new paper round with his younger sisters Lainey and Renya.

“I really like walking in this area because we have been here for just over a year and we are finding new things on every run.

“I am excited about the new paper round – especially because it is Warralily and Armstrong Creek’s first, and I think it will make them feel like a community.”

The new suburb is expected to be home to many young families and has been earmarked as a sporting precinct.

Villawood’s development on the western side of the Surf Coast Highway, Armstrong Mount Duneed, is set to be a state-of-the-art addition to the suburb. It will boast easy access to major supermarkets, department stores, cinemas, recreation facilities, specialty shops, restaurants and cafés within the

Armstrong Creek town centre, which will be on the other side of the Surf Coast Highway. The Warralily and Armstrong precincts are set to be home to nine AFL ovals, 13 soccer pitches, 30 tennis courts, and facilities for hockey, netball, basketball and cycling.

The Geelong Cats also plan to move their training base into the new Keystone Industrial Park area in Armstrong Creek.

“Being a new area we are excited to

have a look around and see what’s going on in the estate,” Donovan said.

“There might be new families and kids to meet during the delivery.

“I really wanted to take a part-time job after going to the Quiksilver Pro and Rip Curl Pro, and realised I need to pay for all the new things I wanted.”

Armstrong Creek is 11 minutes from the beach and will have easy access to public transport.
