ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL PATHANKOT
Brief History
1. (a) Army Public School Pathankot was established in Apr 1982. Prior to that it was
being run as Regimental Garrison School under aegis of HQ 21 Sub Area. The school
was being run in re-appropriated buildings of 5021 ASC Bn situated in Mil stn. Initially
the school was known as Army School Sujanpur.
(b) The School has been built progressively with higher classes being added in a
gradual manner. Class X was introduced in 1985 and first board exam was held for
Class X in 1986. Subsequently, class XI was introduced and first board exam for class
XII was held during academic session 1987-88.
(c) A major work of Rs. 74.4 Lakhs was sanctioned for Garrison School in 1994.
Secondary wing of the School shifted into new school complex (Bldg NP-4) built under
MWP in Oct 1997. Primary wing continued in re-appropriated bldg. The School was
re-designated as Army School Pathankot. Further, a maj work of Rs. 7.81 crore was
sanctioned and constr of new school building started as a MWP wef 14 Jul 2008. The
new school bldg was inaugurated on 29 Oct 2010 by Lt Gen DS Thakur, GOC 9 Corps.
The school was designated from Army School Pathankot to Army Public School
Pathankot wef 01 Apr 2011 vide AWES HQ New Delhi letter No B/45741/Upg/AWES
dated 08 Dec 2010.
(d) At present as on 01 Aug 2019 the School has a strength of 2081 students from
class I to XII with 54 sections of various classes. It has science, commerce &
humanities streams for Senior Secondary classes.
(e) Besides education, adequate weightage is given for all round personality
development of students through participation in co-curricular activities and sports. The
School has excelled in a number of sports events. Boys & Girls teams of the school
have won many events at National , State & District Level.
(f) Hobby clubs like Eco club, Creative Writing Club, Role Play & Public Speaking
Club, Good Living Club & Reading Club have been running successfully.
(g) A Junior division of NCC for boys & girls is part of the curriculum where students
actively participate in NCC trg / camps.

5. Innovations tried:-
(a) In teaching / learning process. (i) Meeting of HOD‟s with Principal is org in order to explain the methodology
/ technique of teaching to students at different level.
(ii) Deptt meetings org by the HODs on last working day of every month & after every exam to solve the problems in teaching of their respective subjects at various level.
(iii) Class tests are conducted by all subject teachers after completion of each lesson.
(iv) Written revision tests are conducted at least one week prior of each unit test/exam for each class / section.
(v) Teachers are made free for half day on last working day of the month so that parents/students can meet the teachers freely to solve any queries related to the child/syllabus.
(vi) Adoption of 3 very weak children by the teachers of Board classes.
(vii) Toppers of the Board Classes address the assembly and interact with the children of X, XI & XII.
(vii) A word for a week is written on the board. Its meaning is explained to students. Thus a word is learnt to be used by students as and when required while speaking / writing.

(viii) Suggestion box is placed in the school in order to ascertain the problems/suggestions related to teaching / learning.
(ix) Classes are taken to visit diff establishments within Mil area like 412 Engr Sqn, Mamun, Herbal garden, Verka Milk Plant, Mil Form, Dhruv park, IMA Dehradun, Mussorie IIRS etc.
(x) Monthly projects on science / social issues.
(xi) Reward to outstanding student in sports and academics.
(xii) Reward in recognition of improvement in performance in academics.
(xiii) Innovative/creative envelopes made by teachers to give away report cards in an attractive manner.

(i) Timely completion of syllabus of each term followed by correction of all note books is being monitored.
(ii) Day to day progress of the child is noted by class teacher and any remarkable change is noted and informed to the parents on parent-teacher meets along with answer sheets of exams conducted.
(iii) Besides the evaluation, class/revision test is a regular practice.
(iv) Discipline squad houses mainly of students of different classes has been made operational.

(i) Regular Inter House, Inter School and Command level competitions are held.

Board Exam were invited in School to share their Experiences with the fresh class X & XII students, the way they prepared for the Board Exam for moral boosting.

motivate them for achieving high academic standards.
(f) Expectations and the General : All round development of students level of satisfaction personality. Satisfaction level is good. (g) A general remarks on Army : Preference of Army Public School Schools vis-à-vis KVs. Pathankot is any time more than the KVs
around here where quality education is concerned and board result of Army Schools have always been better than KVs.
