Drawing texture with pencil• Texture is the feeling, appearance or consistency of an object or

material. • It can be natural or man-made, functional or decorative. Artists try to

replicate the texture of the subject to make their work look as realistic as possible.
STARTER:Different textures are all around us. Find objects or materials within the room with an interesting texture. Feel them and describe them.
Drawing texture using line and toneOn a piece of paper, experiment drawing different textures. Look at the

examples below and see if you can replicate them.

TASK:

Choose a simple object to draw, it can be in your room or something you’ve thought of. As we are looking at the Romans in PBL, aim to draw an object related to the Romans.

Once you’ve drawn the outline of your object, looking at the previous slides displaying the techniques of building texture and add in some texture with your pencil using line and tone. You can use a rubber to highlight the lighter areas. For darker areas add pressure to your pencil.

One the next slide you have templates of Roman related objects, if you have a printer you can print the next slide and carry out the instructions above.

Once completed take a picture and upload to class dojo.
