The teacher will use Elmo to display the video from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA9Vyl-S-ME&NR=1 on the white board. The video will spark the students’ interest of discovering how the Wright brothers learned to fly.

Page 6: Art in Social Studies

The teacher will use the textbook and internet articles to discuss the Wright brothers. The students will take notes as listen to the lecture.

After the lecture, the students will brainstorm about how they could make an airplane and what it would take to fly.

Finally, there will be a class discussion on the impact of American life after the Wright brothers invented the first plane.
