As the host nation of the 8th edition of the International Business Awards 2011, I’m delighted to confirm that this year’s competition received an overwhelming number of entries. Not only did the participation increase with nominations coming from over 40 nations but it is an honour to announce that the UAE is in the top three winning 24 awards in across the different sectors. Business accolades are about acknowledging achievements and success but most of all they are about setting new milestones and standards in this challenging global arena. It is apparent that the UAE is fast becoming a global player and the recognition by international judging panel indicates the accomplishments of companies and individuals from here. This should be a clear indication that over the years the business landscape in the UAE has been transformed and it is now ready to compete with established sectors in matured markets. The Stevies Award is the most prominent business awards and our patronage is a recognition to their efforts in saluting international companies. Therefore I would like thank Mr. Michael Gallagher for bringing the Stevies to Abu Dhabi this year and I would also like to thank supporters and partners who made this ceremony possible.

Welcome to The 8th Annual International Business Awards.

This year’s IBAs attracted more than 3,000 entries from organizations in more than 50 nations. We’ve gratified by the growth of the competition and the importance that organizations around the world have attached to it. The vibrancy of the IBAs illustrates that an increasing number of organizations recognize the role that awards can play in generating positive brand awareness and rewarding executives and employees for their good work. Despite the quality of entries received this year, it was harder than ever to be recognized in the IBAs. Only 26% of all entries submitted have been honored as Stevie Award winners or Distin-guished Honoree medalists. Preliminary judging was conducted in May – July by business professionals around the world. Their averages scores determined the nominations that were eligible to be included in final judg-ing. Members of the IBA’s final judging committees performed final judging in mid-July to select Stevie Award winners. More than 200 professionals participated in the judging process this year, and all of them are acknowledged in this program. After tonight we’ll have a busy autumn at the Stevie Awards. We’re currently accepting entries for the 6th annual Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Ser-vice. Their final entry deadline is 18 November. This competition welcomes entries from organi-zations around the world. Entries for next year’s International Business Awards will open in January. You can learn about all of our programs at www.stevieawards.com. This year the Stevie Awards is supporting Camfed, the Campaign for Female Education, which has fought poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa by educating girls and empowering women to become leaders of change. We encourage you to join us in supporting Camfed. Learn how at www.camfed.org. Thank you for participating in The 2011 International Business Awards, and for joining us this evening. Best wishes for continued success!
