Mission Statement Love God and one another, serve our community, and transform lives.
Vision
A radically inclusive community, empowered to spread God’s love throughout the world.
Beliefs
We believe all are created in the image of God. We believe God loves everyone and through Christ saves-revives-renews the world. We believe God through the Holy Spirit changes lives. We believe
the church is the body of Christ with a mission. We believe the Bible is the word of God. We be-lieve that God has gifted everyone and the church for the purposes of God. We believe discipleship
is a continuing journey.

OPENING PRAYER
God, stir the soil, run the plowshare deep, cut the furrows round and round, overturn the hard, dry ground, spare no strength nor toil, even though I weep. In the loose, fresh mangled earth, sow new seed, free of withered vine and weed. Bring fair flowers to birth. --Prayer from Singapore, Church Missionary Society, George Appleton, ed., Oxford Book of Prayer (Oxford University Press, 1985), 267.

As part of the continuing col-laboration be-tween Asbury and Foundry United Method-ist Churches, Asburyans are invited to a three part Wednesday evening class about theologi-an, preacher, and civil rights activist Howard
Thurman on September 26, October 10, and October 24. Thurman taught Gandhi’s non-violent resistance principles, mentored Martin Luther King, Jr., co-founded the first intentionally interracial church, and much more. The class which also will include members of John Wesley AME Zion church, will be led by Dr. Deryl Davis, who is producing a PBS video on Thurman. While Wednesday night at Asbury is busy with church meetings, and for Wesley Theological seminary classes, it was the best time for this particular offering. More information will follow. Questions may be directed to Carol Travis at 301-459-6303.
