God, stir the soil, run the plowshare deep, cut the furrows round and round, overturn the hard, dry ground, spare no strength nor toil, even though I weep. As part of the continuing col-laboration be-tween Asbury and Foundry United Method-ist Churches, Asburyans are invited to a three part Wednesday evening class about theologi-an, preacher, and civil rights activist Howard

Thurman on September 26, October 10, and October 24. Thurman taught Gandhi’s non-violent resistance principles, mentored Martin Luther King, Jr., co-founded the first intentionally interracial church, and much more. The class which also will include members of John Wesley AME Zion church, will be led by Dr. Deryl Davis, who is producing a PBS video on Thurman. While Wednesday night at Asbury is busy with church meetings, and for Wesley Theological seminary classes, it was the best time for this particular offering. More information will follow. Questions may be directed to Carol Travis at 301-459-6303.
