GENERAL NOTES

A. GENERAL

1. DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE ONTARIOBUILDING CODE, LATEST EDITION.

2.ALL DIMENSIONS ON SITE MUST BE VERIFIED AND CONFIRMED BY THE CONTRACTORBEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK. REPORT TO THE ENGINEER ANY DISCREPANCIESAND ALL DOUBTFUL CONDITIONS REQUIRING DECISIONS FROM THE ENGINEER.

3.ALL LOADS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS ARE FACTORED LOADS U/N.

B. FOUNDATION

1. CONCRETE STRENGTH SHALL BE 20 MPA AT 28 DAYS, 20 MM AGGREGATE, 75 MM 25 MMSLUMP. CONCRETE EXPOSED TO WEATHER SHALL HAVE 6% (1% ) AIR ENTRAINMENT.

2.ALL EXPOSED CORNERS OF CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A 25MM CHAMFER.

3.CONCRETE COVER FOR REINFORCEMENT SHALL CONFORM TO CSA CAN3-A23.1-M77, U/N.

4.REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE DEFORMED BARS AND CONFORM TO CAN3-G30.12-M -1977.REINFORCING BARS SHALL BE GRADE 400 MPA; W.W.F. SHALL CONFORM TO CSA G30.5,YIELD POINT 400 MPA MIN.

5.ALL FOOTINGS SHALL BE FOUNDED ON NATURAL UNDISTURBED SOIL, HAVING A MINIMUMALLOWABLE BEARING CAPACITY OF 240 KPA U/N. SEE SOIL REPORT.

6.CAISSON BEARING CAPACITY ASSUMED TO BE 400 KPA TO BE VERIFIED ON SITE BY SOILSCONSULTANT.

7. ALL FILL MATERIALS SHALL BE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE SOILS REPORT AND SHALL BEMECHANICALLY COMPACTED IN MAXIMUM 200MM LAYERS TO 95% OF THE MODIFIEDPROCTOR DENSITY UNDER THE FLOOR SLAB U/N.

8.FILL UNDER THE FLOOR SLABS SHALL BE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE SOILS REPORT ANDSHALL BE MINIMUM 200MM GRANULAR MATERIAL U/N WITH 200MM OF 18MM CRUSHER RUNLIMESTONE IMMEDIATELY BELOW THE CONCRETE SLAB. BACKFILL MATERIAL TO BECONFIRMED BY SOILS CONSULTANT. ALL TOP SOIL AND ORGANIC MATERIAL MUST BEREMOVED.

9.LINE OF SLOPE ALONG STEP FOOTING SHALL NOT EXCEED A RISE OF 7 IN A RUN OF 10.MAXIMUM STEP SHALL BE 600 MM.

C. SLAB ON GRADE

1. SLAB ON GRADE SHALL BE 100MM THICK FOR THE OFFICE AREA WITH STEEL TROWELFINISH AND MEMBRANE CURING.

2.SLAB ON GRADE SHALL BE 125MM THICK FOR THE WAREHOUSE AREA WITH SYNTHETICFIBRE SECONDARY REINFORCEMENT, STEEL TROWEL FINISH, 27 KG NON-METALLICTRAPROCK SHAKE HARDENER, MEMBRANE CURING AND SEALING COMPOUND ( MASTERSEALOR FLORSEAL ). SYNTHETIC FIBRES SHALL BE .59 KG PER CUBIC METRE OF NURLON OREUCLID POLYESTER FIBRES OR .9 KG PER CUBIC METRE FIBREMESH OR CONLOCPOLYPROPYLENE FIBRES. ADD 1/2 LITRE PER CUBIC METRE SUPERPLASTICIZER FOREUCLID OR CONLOC FIBRES. FOR PLANT INSTALLED FIBREMESH FIBRES, CONCRETE MIXDESIGN TO BE REVISED TO PROVIDE SPECIFIED SLUMP. ONE ADDITIONAL COAT OF CUREAND SEAL TO BE APPLIED AT TIME OF BUILDING TURNOVER.

3.45MM DEEP SAW CUTS AS SHOWN ON DRAWING IN WAREHOUSE AREA ONLY.

4.ALL RE-ENTRANT CORNERS SHALL HAVE A 15 M X 900 MM LONG DIAGONAL BAR PLACED38MM FROM THE TOP OF THE SLAB.

5.CONCRETE STRENGTH SHALL BE 20 MPA WITH A MINIMUM CEMENT CONTENT OF 265 KGPER CUBIC METRE FOR WAREHOUSE AREA ONLY. OFFICE SLABS SHALL BE 20 MPA.

6.CONCRETE STRENGTH FOR EXTERIOR SLABS ON GRADE SHALL BE 28 MPA WITH 6% ( 1%)AIR ENTRAINMENT.

D. CONCRETE TOPPING

1. CONCRETE TOPPING ON STEEL DECK SHALL BE 65MM THICK WITH 150 X 150 - W 1.4 /W.W.F.

2.CONCRETE STRENGTH SHALL BE 20 MPA AT 28 DAYS.

H. PRECUTS CONCRETE

1. PRECUTS: CONCRETE CONTRACTOR SHALL FABRICATE AND ERECT ALL PRECUTS MEMBERSLINTELS AND DOOR JAMBS ATTACHED TO THE PRECUTS MEMBERS.

2.ALL PRECUTS ELEMENTS AND LINTELS SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR THE SUPERIMPOSEDLOADS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS AND ANY LATERAL LOADS , SUCH AS WIND LOADSAND SEISMIC LOADS APPLIED TO MEMBERS.

3.DESIGN SHALL CONFORM TO CSA CAN3-A23.3 AND SECTION 4 OF THE ONTARIO BUILDINGCODE LATEST EDITION.

4.PRECUTS CONCRETE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY AND INSTALL ALL INSERTS AND PLATESWHICH ARE TO BE IMBEDDED INTO PRECUTS CONCRETE MEMBERS.
