The Savoy cinema seats more than 900 people across six wall-to-wall screens in spacious, stadium seated auditoria. The cinema is fully digital and fitted out with the latest audio-visual technology including the new innovative soundand 3D capabilities that showcase the very latest blockbusters in the height of luxury, comfort and style.
Ash & Lacy have a range of roofing systems acoustically tested for various applications that require a standing seam finish, which include sound reduction, sound absorption and rain noise. For sound reduction, multiple system types have been tested, ranging from standard construction with liner profile to high density systems that are specifically tested for reducing low end frequencies on projects such as cinema’s.
For this particular project we worked with the main contractor (MCS) and Acoustician (Sandy Brown Associates) to develop a range of systems that met with a number of acoustic requirements being considered. The key criteria was meeting and exceeding values at low end frequencies to stop noise escaping from the auditoria.
SRL Technical report: Savoy Cinema, CorbyDescription of sample
Tests were done on a roof construction. This was built in the floor aperture. The sample was 2.7m wide by 4.0m long, giving an area of 10.8m2.
The sample was built up from the following components:0.9mm Standing Seam - 3.4 kg/m2
