We thank all who contribute and all who pay by Standing Order.

NEW COLLECTORS

Complying with ‘The Charities Act 2009’ will necessitate some minor changes to some parish practices and procedures and we ask for your patience in making the transition. In order to ensure best practice in line with legislation, we urgently require the assistance of additional volunteers to assist with the Offertory Collection during Mass. It will not involve additional time other than attendance at the Mass you regularly attend.

If able to assist, please contact Fr. Derek or Fr. Michael.

Summer Holidays During the summer months many of those involved in music ministry in our parish take a well-deserved break. We are fortunate to have many instrumentalists, choirs, folk group, musicians, cantors, soloists and psalmists who make sure our Sunday liturgies are enhanced musically. We say thank you to all who share their musical gifts and talents at Mass in the churches of the parish.

Altar Server’s Appeal

Thanks to the overwhelming response to the Altar Server’s Alb Appeal, we are now in a position to replace all of the Altar Server albs over the summer months. Having sourced someone local to produce the albs, we are able to support local initiative and enterprise.

We are most grateful to parishioners, family relatives, and visitors to the parish who have been so generous to this appeal.

Radio na Gaeltachta Broadcast

Thank you to all who contributed to the Radio na Gaeltachta broadcast Mass from Ashbourne last weekend. It was a moment of great pride for our parish to have so many parishioners involved in the celebration of Sunday Eucharist in word, prayer, music and song.

Pope Francis on the World Cup 2014

Pope Francis, a soccer lover, recently sent a video message to the participants, organisers and followers of the World Cup in Brazil. He spoke of the good of sport for society. ‘Sport is a school of peace, it teaches how to build peace’. Pope Francis pointed out three fundamental attitudes for the course of peace

promoted through football. 1.Need to train In this practice of sport, we can see a metaphor for life. In life it is necessary to train, to strive to achieve important results. Training is necessary to improve. This often involves sacrifice. 2. Fair Play It is important to always think of the good of the group, overcome individualism, selfishness, look out for others, and play as part of a team. 3. Respect to the opponent Also in life it is important to respect difference and to value an opponent, treating them with respect. ‘May this World Cup take place in complete serenity and tranquillity, always with respect, solidarity and fraternity between men and women who

recognise each other as one family’.

Parish Hall Development Project

Thank you to all who supported the Ray Murtagh Fundraiser on Friday night last in aid of the Parish Hall Development Project. A total of €1,840 was raised. Our thanks to Ben Finnegan, Garristown who was the support act on the evening and to all who organised the event.

A second collection will be taken at Masses this weekend in support of the annual Peter’s Pence collection. This collection is offered to support the work of Pope Francis in assisting the poor, vulnerable children, the elderly, those marginalised, the victims

of war or natural disasters, concrete aid to dioceses in need, Catholic education, and assistance to refugees and immigrants. Thank you for your generous support.

Parish All-Night Vigil

Thank you to all who supported the parish in prayer during the All-Night Vigil and Dawn Mass recently. Our sincere gratitude to all who facilitated the hours throughout the night: Fr. Egidijus, Lithuanian Chaplain, Cormac O’Buachalla, Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal, Drogheda, Barry White, seminarian for the Diocese of Meath, Padddy & Michelle Buckley, Ciara Pykett, members of the Kerala Community. Thank you to all who baked, those who offered hospitality to those keeping vigil or attending the Dawn Mass, Simon Orrock and Ciara Douglas who led the music during Mass at dawn. We hope the time spent together in prayer will bring blessings on your and your families.

Prayer for Summer Holidays

Lord God, we put ourselves into Your hands, and pray that You will bless us and our families during the wonderful months of summer. May we all help make our home a place of relaxation, joy, love, peace and safety. May we be generous and considerate, not thinking only about ourselves, but helping others enjoy the blessings of summertime. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

World Youth Day 2016 Two years to go! Last summer at the end of World Youth Day in Brazil Pope Francis announced Krakow as host city for the next World Youth Day 2016. We invite young people (age 18-35) to consider being part of Krakow’16. See www.dioceseofmeath.ie/
