ASIAN ART COUNCIL The Asian Art Council (AAC) is a support organization for the Department of Asian Art at the Art Institute of Chicago. Spanning the arts of Japan, China, Korea, South and Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, and the Islamic world, this department houses one of the preeminent American collections of Asian art. Through lectures, demonstrations, gallery talks, and visits to private collections, the AAC provides a forum for education and discussion about Asian art—ancient through contempo- rary. A biannual newsletter informs members of council programs as well as Asian-themed events in the United States and abroad. Membership dues and fundraising events provide financial support for dynamic programming and enable the AAC to donate a work of art to the Department of Asian art once a year.
